US Army Bomb Squad rolling through town!

So yesterday, I was sitting on my parent's porch talking to my father. I say to him, "should we be concerned that 4 New York State Trooper trucks and a US Army Bomb Squad truck just went by the house". He says, "no they would have called us if anything was going on". He is Fire Police for the local FD. Some time after this we hear 3 explosions that rocked the neighborhood. They detonated some old ordinance locally at a quarry and never warned any local officials. My mother thought it was a shotgun, my parent's neighbor thought their furnace had exploded and the look or horror on her face as she got her family out of the house! I later found the US Army Bomb Squad gassing up to go home.

Nothing like letting the locals know what's going on, eh?

Well if it doesn't effect them why notify them... And a controlled detonation in a quarry supervised by the NYSP and US Army EOD seems pretty under control... And I'm pretty sure the Town and Dispatcher was notified.

And the dispatcher gets inundated with calls on the 9-1-1 system.  It just seems to me that an ounce of prevention...  ;)

What would the United States Army with a State LE escort need Fire Police? That's right, they would likely never need them. Ever. Just like the rest of us.
I never said the fire police was needed just thought the village PD & FD might have been given a heads up as a courtesy. As far as ever needing fire police, I think they are often needed and free up LEOs for sometimes hours on end at fires and accidents.

Hell, the US Navy EOD was also up in Lake George recently to recover ordinance in the lake. Do you think the local fire department was contacted, no, because they would just be in the way.
