Using Epoxy to install lights

I just installed Whelen TIR 3's in the grill of some Detective Jeep Cherokees. After searching for a good location, I noticed that the TIR3 is just a bit wider than the fins of the grill. I used Permatex Black Silicone Adhesive and expoyed the lights to the grill vertically. I put the black housing on the TIR 3 and presto...They look awesome. I stuck the grill in and found the perfect section of the grill that would make the lights level. As anyone ever epoxyed lights like this before? And if so did you have any problems other than removing the lights. These lights won't be removed until we sell the vehicle usually about 5 years from now so unless I have a mechanical failure, I think this will work.

I have to agree on the silicone- I can see epoxy being a bit of trouble with removal.

Out of curiosity, where are you finding new Cherokees for sale? Or are you outside the US where our "Liberty" is named "Cherokee?"

Cherokee & Grand Cherokee are 2 different vehicles. Cherokee is better looking imo. I do not believe the Cherokee is still in production which is unfortunate since it is a better looking public safety vehicle than the gay soccer mom looking Grand Cherokee.

They Cherokee was discontinued in 2001. I owned 2 2000's and loved them. not a lot of room for equipment inside though but many decent locations for emergency lighting as well as ease in disassemby.

Where and how did you install your siren speaker(s) in your 2000 Cherokees?

There was a police package Cherokee, pursuit rated with certified speedo etc. The Grand Cherokee has never had a pursuit version.

I've used clear silicone on several occasions in lieu of brackets to install lightheads inside an MX7000. Always works nicely.

These are the Grand Cherokee's that I am installing equipment in. I will agree that the Cherokee was much easier to install equipment in.
