Whats in the Grill?

Hey Guys, A couple years a go while on vacation in Ocean City MD I saw their chiefs car blasting off to a call with a wicked cool grill light set going and i could never figure out what it was. Well i found a video on youtube. So heres the question, anyone know whats behind the grill?

Thats what I thought, just because the way the red goes back and forth. I have only seen 911ep's do that. Its diffrent but very cool. Thanks everyone for your help!

Probably charcoal....unless it's a propane grill, in which case it would be a pipe and a bunch of little nozzles.
