Wow, I have never seen a good picture of one. They were out around the time of the glass internal diffuser version of the 5000 (1968). In your black and white pic the 5000 sits to the left partially cut off, do you have full pic of that? I have never seen a picture of the 5000 in literature either and have been looking for one. Whelen's use of internal optics through the years is interesting.

"Newer" 5000 with standard internal spreader with an output for a second (maybe 3rd?) beacon, it is from a cross bar.

Old Whelen Power Supplies
Starting in this thread we have been looking at older Whelen power supplies. Here are a few more. This strobe II of dubious nature (opened up and markings written over), looks modified, but works. Note the small dial in one of the pics changes the flash rate. It was inside a 5000 series beacon...
