It is possible to use one of the 9 function buttons as a disable for a function for the top 3 buttons? I want the option of disabling a HLF when needed, but not needing to independently turning it on each time.

Yes it is. Put the half on one if the aux switches wiring wise. Have that switch turned on in the programming software when you hit the number 3 switch. Then you can turn the hlf off if you don't want it.
