I recently bought a 2004 Ford Explorer 4 door with a roof rack for my personal vehicle. I want to take my liberty light bar that I have and mount it on my new explorer but I can not seem to locate the proper bracket set part number I need. I would like to mount the bar on my roof rack rails if that is possible because I have seen some kits that do that for the Expedition or maybe suburban. If anyone could help me out figure out what I need to mount my bar I would appreciate any help.

Howdy. What's the bar length?
Also, what are the mounts currently on it? If you slide the racks together you may be able to drill and bolt it

Here are the roof rack mounting kits for Ford applications:

MKEZ34 Excursion, Roof Rack Mount / 1997-2002 / 52"-55"
MKEZ34 Excursion, Roof Rack Mount / 2003-2004 / 48"-50"
MKEZ34 Expedition (Roof Rack Mount) / 1997-2006 / 52"-55"
MKEZ67 Escape (Standard Roof Rack Only) / 2001-2011 / 43"-50"
MKEZ67 Expedition (Low Profile Rack Mount) / 2005-2006 / 50"-55"
MKEZ74 Expedition (Low Profile Rack Mount) / 2007-2017 / 52"-55"
MKEZ74 Explorer, Roof Rack Mount / 2011-2012 and 2013 Police Interceptor Utility / 52" -55"
MKEZ84 Explorer, Roof Rack Mount / 2011-2012 and 2013 Police Interceptor Utility / 43"-50"

Here's an MKEZ74 on a 2009 Explorer, credit to member rwo978: https://elightbars.org/forums/threads/whelen-hawaii-strap.19310/

If you decide to mount it to the roof instead of to the roof rack, an older reference I have lists the following strap kit for your application:

MKEZ55 63384 FORD EXPLORER 2002-2010

Thank you for the replies. My bar is a 48" bar and I am currently using the stud mounts that are commonly used on a wreckers to mount it on the head ache rack of my pick up truck.

I think I am going to give the MKEZ74 kit a try because I believe from a quick google search that my roof rack bars are the same as the 2009 model. I just really don't want to have to push my bar fowards enough to use a standard foot and strap set. I think it would be too far forwards to be seen from the rear very well.

Is it possible you would be able to use the stud (pylon) mounts on the roof rack?

It might be possible but when I bought it the roof rack cross bars were gone. Even if I had the cross bar I think the light bar would be a lot of weight and torque for a single cross bar to hold. At least on my previous fords the roof rack bars aren't that sturdy. Plus I think it would look better to have a nice snug fit with the roof line being directly on top of the roof rack side rails rather then be suspended over them. If it didn't have the roof rack side rails I would just order the regular strap kit.

Ahhh, I was thinking the crossbars were in place. Got it

Yes, actually I finally found one and got it installed been meaning to post a picture but I keep wanting to do more to it and figured I'd wait till the explorer is done.

That looks exactly like the Jefferson county sheriffs in Louisville ky
