I have two Whelen Model 97 lights on the rear side of my ambulance. I would like to replace the red with clear.
I see on the Whelen installation instructions that they had different clear light angles. One is 13* another is 26* and another is 8-32*.
I know that one would put the light closer to the vehicle. The other further away. Does the 8-32* diffuse the light more and spread it out?
Thanks in advance
David

They actually have inserts that go behind the 97 series lens that refract the light at the angles you're talking about. The basic 97 series lens is the same. Also keep in mind the 97 series is discontinued and replaced by first the 9E and then the 900. The 900 and the 97 are compatible. The 9E had a version that was not. The 900 series has the option of a warning style lens or a diffusing style lens which is actually the lens itself, not an insert. There's also a clear version for the 900 LED flood light that sticks out and I would avoid on a halogen lamp. There were also completely non-optic clear 900 series that were used for linear strobe models that are discontinued. Depending on how many you need, I might have actual 97 series with the insert optics as well as various styles of the 900.

Here is the back of a 97 series with the 13 degree insert held on via clips at the screw holes.
