Just bought the wife a 2010 Tahoe and need some insider info. I'm hoping not to drill the light housings for hide-aways because the lenses are not fluted and everything is in plain sight. I think I'm going to stick with a headlight and tail-light flasher and some led's behind the grill.

Does anyone have any tips or tricks for installing the flashers? Also, how hard is the headliner removal with all of the airbags for my antenna install?

Thanks!

Mass,

You can replace the DRL portion with the HAW's to avoid drilling the housing... Most people recommend doing that versus drilling the housings...

The tahoe uses a standard positive HLF such as the Whelen UHF2150A which is what I have in mine. The taillight flashers you seen in the tahoes are on the police package edition of the taho and come factory installed. I personally am not familiar with the taillight flasher install for the tahoe. Someone else might be along to give more info on it.

I would recommend in addition to HLF and grill lights putting a dash light in, and some intersection warning. The forum has become flooded with Tahoes, so you can get lots of ideas from previous installs.

As far as dropping the headliner... I didn't have to drop mine for my install, and I haven't dropped one. I believe Cajunblitz, and Hugh A. have. They are a VERY valuable resource here on the forum. Both gentlemen have done several Tahoe's. Maybe one of them will chime in here.

Good Luck!

i drive a tahoe with LAWs up front and, to be honest (if you're on a budget), i personally don't think it's worth the $ to have them up front in a smaller housing like the ones on the tahoe. like Seth said, ppl here on ELB have installed LAWs where the DRLs are, but i personally would rather use the saved $ to add warning on the dash or headliner to compliment the HLF and grill lights. as far as the rear, how about a tir6 slimlighter on the headliner (since it seems that u want this to be a covert-type install and wouldn't want something like a pair of linz6's on an LP bracket)...maybe something like red/amber slimlighter?

+1!!!!

Thanks guys! I'm trying to keep it simple since it will rarely get used for response. I have a ghost I'm going to install on the hood for front warning as well as a headlight flasher. I was hoping to just stick with a tail light flasher in the back. I want to be as indiscreet as possible.

As far as the headliner, it looks like I can remove one of the interior lights to drill the antenna hole and maybe snake the cable to a pillar so I don't have to drop the whole headliner. There's a ton of room in the center console to mount my pa300 and radio. I think I might slap the light switches in there somewhere too.

If anyone has installed a tail light flasher in a civilian tahoe, any insight would be greatly appreciated.

You might think about 4 ghosts on the hood. One on each corner at 45 degree angles and 2 foreword facing covering the front. The supplied c clip would clamp the back of the hood and look really clean. Then install a red and amber ghost on the rear plate and your in good shape. The hlf is a good idea too

Thanks Mike but a little overkill for the wife's ride.

I'm going to install the one ghost I already own in the center of the hood and flash the headlights and tail lights. All said and done it was under $100.

I only end up using her car a few times a year so I'm keeping it simple. I learned my lesson years ago when she needed my truck and I tried to respond from out of town with her car to a double bagger with no lights or siren. Not fun at all responding with traffic when you can see the smoke from miles away. LOL.
