We were looking at changing thigs up a bit at work. Everyone is talking about trying to go with a different schedule. I'm not sure why, because ours is great. We have 4 Shift Commanders. 2 one week, 2 the next. One guy is days and one nights. Our pay period ends Saturday night at midnight, so basically we work 40(ish) hours Wed-Saturday midnight and 40(ish) hours Sunday morning-Wed. Then 7 days off. So basically we get a weeks vacation every other week. We call it a compressed work week.

We start Wednesdays:

Days: Nights:

WED 0800-1800 1800-0600

THR 0600-1800 1800-0600

FRI 0600-1800 1800-0600

SAT 0600-1800 1800-0600

SUN 0600-1800 1800-0600

MON 0600-1800 1800-0600

TUE 0600-2200 2200-0800

I'm just wondering... Whats everyone else work?

Crews where I work do a standard 24/48 rotation. I personally work 8-5 Monday through Friday.

We are split between the standard 24/48 rotation, and a 12 hour shift. I work the 12 hours shift. Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday one week and Wednesday & Thursday the next week. We work an 84 hour pay period with 20 hours built in overtime per pay period and off every other weekend.

I was on a 12hr 2on-2off-3on-2off-2on-3off shift for a while, pretty nice. Schedule started on Monday, so the 3on/off were always Fri-Sun. I worked nights but the day shift was matched with the same schedule.

This 12 hr rotation is the most awesome ever!!!! It's what I did at my former PD, 7a-7p, but switching from nights to days every monday. Except for the switching, I'd kill for it. We keep pushing for it at the PD I'm at now, but there's a few holdouts and for whatever reason, until everyone is on board, it won't happen. Every other weekend off is awesome when it comes to kids time. Plus, take your Wed-Thurs off, 2 days, and you have a whole week off. Not to mention, you only work about half of the month, not 3/4 like most shifts.

Currently on a rotating 5 on, 3 off. Shifts are 0700-1615, 1300-2215, 1600-0115, and 2200-0715. I'm on nights with a turn around on my friday, meaning I work the 1600-0115. Every person works some other shift during their week, either late on their mon or early on their fri. It's about 50/50 whether people like this or not. The previous was working and entirely different shift during Oct & Nov. This sucks for kids, with school and daycare. I'd rather deal with the one odball day a week, which normally turns into 2 or 3 days with people taking off or sick and getting bumped.

Four 10 hour days, permanent hours.

Daywork is 6a-4p, evenings is 3p-1a and mids is 8:30p to 6:30a. Each shift has an overlap day. Overlaps are used for details, training, or just a good day to take off so you have a four day vacation.

We work 2 months of weekends, and 2 months of weekdays. I currently work Monday thru Thursday. In 2 weeks I switch back to Thursday thru Sunday.

Our Pd does a one day forward schedule, which most guys aren't to fond of.

Days: 0530-0330

Swing: 1430-0030

Graves: 2030-0630

on for 4 days and get 3 off.

I work graves and i like the hours but the other shifts aren't so happy with theirs!
