Eric, don´t forget the NYPD Streethawk...
Where did you found this beauty?Hi guys,
this thread has been in the dark for a while, but here's a beacon we haven't seen much lately. It's a clear Dominion Auto flat top 357.
I would say, all bulb-positions are fix. So it looks more like a large 360 worklight....All oscillating lights in the Spectra bar? Looks like a mega Aurora to me.
What I wouldn't give for that fully loaded 90H. Hnnnnggggg.just to add to the thread ..most of my clear are duplicates of whats been show already. so i pulled this out. 74" xl aka amp monster and a c/c whelen bar from n.c.p.d
Thanks Dan. I made him a much lower offer and he took it after I explained what the light is going to need to get back in shape.Been watching that. Nice grab Kerry!
More additions: (I likes me clear....  )
I love the clear-dome beacons. We had a '61 Buick Flxette ambulance that came unlighted, and we put a pair of clear-domed older-style 17s on it. The left beacon had red and clear bulbs while the rt. had red/blue. To the inside of the beacons was an old Mars DL8 "figure-8" red light. Between it and the beacons were a pair of DoRay lollipops: one red, one blue; and we also had a pair of PAR46 red Unity lights on the bumper that alternated with the DoRay lights. Our Q sat behind the Mars light. Very impressive setup and we got a lot of comments. About this time in 1973 we got a call one evening from my friend, Phil Bickerstaff, who ran Gold Star Ambulance in Clovis, NM. He was in the process of shutting down his operation and was down to one unit to cover the city. They had an emergency transfer to Albuquerque and asked us to make the transfer. When I reached Clovis I called Phil by radio to let him know we were in town, and he asked me to call again when I turned down their street, as a couple of his guys wanted to see the Buick lit up; so I did. Was I shocked when I approached to see not only his guys but Clovis PD and NM State Police officers standing in the intersection watching our approach. I took that as a compliment! We later had another ambulance, a '65 Pontiac Consort that sported twin clear-domed 175 "hill lights" on the front corners, with a center-mounted Q and red DoRay lollipops between the Q and front beacons and a blue Dietz hill light behind the Q. Not only could you see us coming, but also where we'd been!
NOS Highlighter with rare diamond mirror
Finally got a clear dome for the 550
Pre-resto Model 17
I would agree with that being a bit pricey, but that's the way they are nowadays. Before Joe Dorgan's business bit the dust recently, he was getting quite a bit for beacon domes, and wanted $75 for the small red lens for the tiny Federal VL siren I have. Had to pass on that. Not common. There is a nice NOS clear dome only on ebay. $50 I think.
