9 medical helicopters with more coming, Parkland Hospital in Dallas on stand by. 3 County Sheriff Departments, Texas DPS, 15 and counting city Police, over a dozen VFD and city FD's responding. They are trying to evacuate the city. 30 injured from nursing home across street of the plant. Apartment fire with people trapped. Cell phones are down.


Hearing initial responding FD/EMS have been injured.

With three or four FDs on scene, 9+ medivacs, and countless PD resources, I don't think the news will be able to get anywhere NEAR the place for awhile.

Started as a structure fire at the plant, FD was on location for the initial fire call, on quick attack, then the plant exploded. The blast was felt 65 miles away.

A freelance photographer phoned into CNN stating the a major highway he was traveling to get into town is blocked by Texas State Troopers wearing respirators.

A city wide evacuation is being implemented now. Schools are closed for the rest of the week. The triage center at the football field is being evacuated.


Frisco Fire Department about 150 miles away is responding, Grand Prairie Fire Department responding, alot of Dallas metroplex FD's are sending Ambulances and Fire units. DFW based Careflite air and ground units are also rolling.

I-35 is gridlocked 15 miles north and south of West. Northbound I-35 north from West to Ellis Count might be closed so EV's from Dallas/Ft. Worth can get to West.


SAR is on going in multiple areas and door to door searches/evac notifications.

Yeah, I was in Whitesboro near the Oklahoma boarder a few hours ago and it was raining and real windy. Not sure if those will get that far south, but something to be worried about.

KWKT (a local TV station) is reporting FIVE firefighters and ONE police officer have been reported dead and the local EMS Director is saying 60-70 dead, hundreds injured total.
