:o I must say that Im VERY impressed with the intersectors from SOS. They just add to the beauty of your truck.

Thanks. They are pretty flippin bright. I like them a lot. Worth the money.

Klein am I seeing correctly that the ILS only mounts with the 2 center visor mounts? It fully supports the weight off of those 2 mounts alone?

Only because the shroud/frame the LEDs are in is for a CVPI. There is not a frame for Explorers. The holes the mounts are actually in on the light are custom drilled. If it were in a Tahoe or CVPI there would be 4 supports. I have sorta bad flashback because the ILS is slightly bowed (the center is higher than the ends). If there was a way (just drill into the headliner and make supports) to level it out the ILS would be a lot more effective and less flashback. It is still hellacious and gets the job done but it could be full potential if it was designed for my truck. I also had to cut the shroud/flashback shield to fit around the windshield and use trunk weatherstripping to snug up to the glass.

I am pretty much only a fan of Vertex in running board area. Some light assemblies are alright but mostly not. I love them for where they are. In person they just blow anything else out of the water. When I had my tint installed after this current setup, I had them cut the tint around the rear light and rear side window lights.

I liked the vertex's on the running board they looked very effective, Why did you get rid of them?

i LOVE the intersectors!!!!!!! ur explorer is still one of my top fav.s on the board

+1

Still my favorite Explorer. Love the new addition to the mirrors. However, considering you said how much of a pain in the ass they were to install, I think I'll just add LINZ6's to my 07 Explorer and call it a day.

Intersectors look great. Love your Explorer and setup (you already know that, lol). What happened to the running boards? It took me a second to figure out that they were missing because I kept looking at the video going I know there is something wrong here, haha.

They looked cool but since I deal with more intersections than anything they were not really being seen that low to the ground...unfortunately. I really liked the Vertex but just wasnt effective.

They weren't running boards. It was just a piece of plastic that ran the length between the front and back tires to hide the frame, brake lines, etc. But since I also painted all that and it looks new and black it all blends in and doesn't look bad at all.

Thanks for the compliment!

Truck looks great but I dont quite know how I feel about the Intersectors. They are more covert than say a lighthead right on the mirror or mirrorbeams, but they may need a bit more refinement.

I agree. Great concept because I think they are more hidden being under the mirrior but just seems more mounting options could make it a little better. We shall see if SOS makes any improvements.

Intersectors are effective, but look tacky to me. Not your fault, just the design. I'm sad to see that you painted the wheels black. Looked better with silver wheels.

what light enthusiest would need porn.... that is just beautiful!!!

Like I said, theyre a new design but could use some improvements. I love the black wheels, though. Wish I had done it sooner but thanks for the compliment, Dave and crt6mrt.

Getting a 2012 Explorer tomorrow. I will be doing a pretty basic install on it.

front: If the pinnacle will work I will use it but if not 2 dual vipers RB

rear: 2 dual vipers RB

Possibly HLF

Siren: Omega 90

Speaker: ES100 Dynamax

2 R/ 2 W vertex unknown location. would be cool to install on luggage rack if it looks good. Not interested in HAWs again. too much of a PITA.

2 blue Impaxx (to be replaced by the new tri colors when they come out) unknown location

Swiches: 4 individual switches unknown location

I saw the install of the 2011 K9 Explorer. Seemed decent enough. Anyone have any input on use of the above equipment or the like? Would consider exterior hole making if practical. Spending money is a no-no right now since I used a lot of my savings/ toy money on a DP but maybe by Jan I will have enough saved up for the new Impaxx and something else.

The new intersectors look awesome! I love the amount of lighting on your vehicle, great install!

LOL no longer have any of that installed. A lot of it going into the 2012.

I have to disagree with the "Super Taurus" comment. May have been designed off one but it I thought it was too car-like (esp a taurus) I wouldnt have bought it. Ha ha.

That's why I called it a Super Taurus. Though given that saying "better than a taurus" doesn't really mean squat, I suppose I should have expected that interpretation. I worked on a Taurus once. We had to remove the windshield to access the heater core. Frankly being a comfortable ride doesn't change the fact that it's a bigger heavier car (and subsequently less powerful), not a passenger truck. However definitely open to input, how does this work for you compared to let's say a Tahoe?

EDIT: To reiterate: I love the install, just not the vehicle.

I can hardly wait to see the install on the '12! I personally like the looks of the new Explorer; it's... different.

Amazing install, Love the interior lightbar. Great job man. :hail:

I will miss the setup on my 2007 but it, the 2012 should be somewhat similar to the 07. I havent driven it enough to make that judgement. They are two different classes though. Midsize SUV vs. full size. I think the Tahoe is the ultimate PPV and best PPV SUV then there really arent many options in the Explorer class. Maybe durango? Jeep? I think the Explorer is the best of of that size/class. If I had a choice between a Hoe and Ex...I would go Hoe in a flash but I wanted to stick with the size I had. I couldve bought a PPV via work but I wanted leather and Nav so hence the Ex.

I think the new Jeep Grand Cherokee will wind up being a top-notch police vehicle if they set their sights on the market. Chrysler may not want to detract from the success of the Charger, but they have to realize there is a large, burgeoning market for police SUV's with the retirement of the CVPI. Now, if they would only offer the new body style of the Charger in a two-door configuration like nature intended.......

Why would they offer a two door Charger when they have the Challenger that looks more like the 60s chargers and makes them more money?

So... did you get a chance to see if my new pinnacle works in your new explorer. :)

I was taking the Ex on a trade from another dealership in houston....The OTHER dealer SOLD my Ex after I signed the papers. So now I am getting one from Dallas. Should be here today. I should know tonight for sure (if nothing happens between now and then).

I'm about to perform installation on 3 2012 Explorers. Can't wait to get into those things! Can't wait to see your setup, either... your last truck was SWEET!

I would love to have your 07 as a patrol or personal vehicle. You took the time and spent the money to make that thing AWESOME.

WTF!!! Thats freaking crazy... Hope all goes well today.

Well, the other one ("sold") actually wasnt and now it is MINE! w00t! It will be a few days maybe a week before I install. I am taking my time again. No remote siren or regular siren. Going to use just a few switches for everything. Less real-estate in the 12 so mucho planning ahead. Anyone have ideas on side coverage? Thinking something slim under the roof rack at the front, something inside at B pillar (aeh maybe) or something in rear side window at top or something else...Not sure yet. I dont mind drilling holes if it will be a perfect location for a light. I have 2 impaxx and 4 vertex to work with that are dedicated already.

I just was wondering if you had your explorer lifted a little bit. I have a 2006 Explorer that is the same as your (color and all) and I like what you have done with it. I was planning on buying a level kit with just an 1.5 inch lift. I should be able to fit 31's on her but I looked at yours and it looks taller than what I was looking to do. Please let me know and when my project explouder is done I'll be posting her on here.
