Amber Avalanche

I currently have a simple set up but after some thought and a lot of reading through the forum I believe it's time to redo the front set up and add to the rear of my Avalanche.  The current set up is very simple -

Rear: Federal Signal SignalMaster in the rear window run by a Sho-Me 11.1025.008 flasher

Front: Custom visor bar build from a cheap LED strobe kit run by a Sho-Me 11.1005SF flasher

The rear is very functional and easy but obviously the front leaves a lot to be desired.  The lights are not used for any emergency response rather this is more of a construction/ side of the road set up.  That being said the lights will be focused in the rear.  My idea is as follows:

FRONT

Replace the visor light with 2 Amber T-6s in the front grill with an Amber/White Feniex Apollo 2x dash light.

REAR

Leave the Federal Signal in the rear window and add amber T-3s - either to the sides as in the picture or to the license plate.

I was toying with the idea of cannons in the reverse lights and the T-3's by the rear plate but beyond that I think it might get to be too much light.  Thoughts or other recommendations?

I believe I have spent more time sitting stationary/semi-stationary in a traffic lane than most folks (10 to 12 hours a day for 7 days a week for years). Here are my thoughts, based only on my own perceptions and experiences:

I like your basic set up. I am assuming that the white portion of the light in the front windshield, by the rear view mirror, is legal in Ohio (white flashing front is not in TX). I would leave the front layout alone.

In the rear, I believe wider spacing between the warning lights is best. I try to have my lights as far apart and as close to the edge of the body as possible. So, I would prefer the Cannons in the reverse lights and forget the license plate lights.

Next, it looks like your rear lightbar is behind heavy tint. It is my opinion, that no matter whose product you are using, that tint substantially takes away the 'pop' of warning lights. That said, I would leave the bar there and put your T-3s up on each side of your roof rack, as far to each side as possible. They would give you that extra 'pop' and be very discreet when dormant. Plus, they would be most visible, and afford excellent identification, should you have another vehicle pull in behind you and block your lower lighting.

Terry

Additional: I just saw your current set up. I think the set up that you are considering will be a good upgrade from what you have now and should be both easy financially and easy labor-wise and it will look good and function well.

Thank you for the input Retired1.

Ohio law does have white as a reserved color for emergency vehicles but I have never heard of it being a problem when mixed with amber.  Not that it makes it less illegal just one of those that Ohio doesn't seem to enforce.  That being said in the image above the 2x Apollo would be dual color but only flash amber and use steady burn for the whites for the 2nd flash pattern.

I should have posted these in the original post but here is the existing light set up.  Definitely leaves a bit to be desired.

Well thanks to the cold temps I have been thinking about the rear.  It still needs to be visible even with the traffic adviser on.  After thinking about the advice posted I think I will add 2 amber T-6s to the rear hanging off of the roof rack bar.  Should be nice and visible then.

Now just have to wait for nice weather to do it.
