I received this light in a trade .The Owner advised that he was told that the Light was a prototype ..

Correct, the "guts" are in fact whelen

A totally new CJ 184 will be far cheaper and easier than fixing this one. Sell rare whelen guts and buy a new beacon.

Check out John Dorgan's (Sirenman) website. He normally has nice re-conditioned CJ-184's available for immediate sale. Don't waste your money on this butcher job!
