i didnt see this anywhere and i got wondering what all the fire/med on here is so the ? of the night are you paid or vol. Aslo what is the name of your company location and if anything what do they spelize in and there motto if they have one. I am a vol. Fire fighter/emt with Knoxville-Deerfield Vol. Fire Company in Knoxville,pa we are a water supply department 2nd biggest tanker and the most 5 inch all trucks set up for water supply our motto is Small company big hose. so now contiunie on with yours.

Kinnelon Volunteer Fire Company - Vol FF. Our dept specializes in high angle rescue (ropes, harnesses, etc for those that don't know) and tenders - which we have two of. We also have a rapid intervention crew that responds to mutual aid fires (RIC/FAST). We get about 200 calls per year - this year we are a bit higher than normal.

Tri-Boro First Aid Squad - the squad covers butler, bloomingdale and Kinnelon; also responding into Wanaque, Pompton Lakes and Riverdale for mutual aid when they cannot get a crew (it works both ways :D ). We get about 1500 calls per year - as of today we are at 810+...which is higher than average for this time.

Valley Fire District - Summit County, Ohio - paid fire & ems department. Our department as whole whole does not have one specialty, but we have members who are trained in every different aspect of special operations. I am part of our County HazMat team and TROT teams. I am a hazmat Tech and a specialist in several areas of it. I am also a certified tech in rope, trench, swift water, ice, and dive (divemaster). I only use diving in recreation and teaching now, no time for doing it with the FD/County team anymore. We have several other members that respond with the county teams in various levels of training. Most of our members are certified or at least trained in ropes, ice, and swift water. This way we can at least get something going by the time other members show up or the county teams are called to respond. Personally, I would give up doing ems if I could, but that is kind of the bread and butter of our job.

Davis Corner Vol. Fire and Rescue......Virginia Beach, VA., but we call ourselves the Davis Corner Nursing Home and Minor Malady Response Squad, Davis Corner Taxi, and years ago, Divorce Corner (don't ask....)

Paid dispatcher at the Metropolitan Emergency Communication Center, Gahanna, Ohio. We are considered employees of the Mifflin Township Fire Department and dispatch for them & 5 other suburban FDs along with the Ohio State Fire Marshall's Arson Bureau. FT dispatchers are members of the township IAF local as well and all personnel are EMD & EFD certified.

I'm a retired on a medical disability after 19 years in the fire service.

I now work for the Illinois Medical Emergency Response Team as the Safety Officer and Logistics Chief. Mine is one of about 6 paid positions but the team is volunteer over 800 persons. While we're based out of Urbana, we cover the state and anywhere else an EMAC is requested.

In addition to the normal disaster medicine, I do anything from consulting for towns, teaching and other things that are confidential.

Spent about 20 years in a volunteer Ambulance Squad as a driver/Emt/Aide/Dispatcher and with the Fire Dept. Spent 5 years as a Police Officer in a kind of Mayberry setting. I work full time as a Fire/Safety Officer for D.O.C. Been with D.O.C. now for 15 yrs.

Neptune Township Fire Department, Shark River Hills Fire Co. Station 34-3. Volunteer

My Co. is the water supply LDH company in town and are one of the few True Engine companies left in the area, with 2 Engines. We respond on a lot of Mutual Aid with the LDH as its on a 2000gpm Engine and we are just known for getting it done right. Shark River Hills First Aid Squad 34-23 Volunteer

- Also specialize in MCI and Rehab. We have a NJ EMS Task Force Staging Area Management Trailer and NJ EMS TF Suburban, a NJ EMS Task Force Polaris ASAP (Polaris 6x6 with an ambulance box on it, its a mini ambulance basically), and are possibly getting a MCI/Rehab Bus soon. It's supposed to be able to carry 12 Liter Patients or 24 ambulatory, will also double as a Rehab unit becuase we respond county wide for rehab assignments to large fires/hazmats.

This is all in addition to having 2 Ambulances and a Dodge Charger On call car.

Huntsville Emergency Medical Services , Inc (HEMSI) Not for profit ambulance service, sole provider ALS/BLS in county. Average 50,000 calls year. Worked there about 14 years.

Huntsville/Madison County Rescue Squad, Inc Vehicle Extrication, Water/Technical Rescue, limited EMS first response. County Wide. 1200 calls year. Working auto extrication every 36 hours on average. I am a senior crew leader. All volunteer, main rescue unit staffed 24/7/365 with minimum of 2 EMT Basics. Volunteer for 15 years

From what ive been told im a member of the biggest vol fire department, Cy Fair VFD http://www.cyfairvfd.org/about.aspx. Their is waaaaaaayyyyy to much info to post about the department so i posted the link to our info. I am a vol at station 10 ive been in the department for 6 years, our station mascot is road runner the saying for our old ladder truck was high nuff

Idk thats what i was told . Cy-Fair VFD is now one of the largest, busiest volunteer Fire Departments in the United States, with over 15,000 emergency responses each year. CFVFD covers the 180-square mile area of Emergency Services District (ESD) #9 in northwest Harris County. Responding from 12 stations strategically located throughout the territory; the 300+ men and women of the Department

Owl's Head- Mountain View Volunteer Fire/ Rescue, Owl's Head, NY

We have about 20 members and provide fire and EMS services. We specialize in wildland firefighting and rescues- we have two 4x4 brush trucks, a 4x4 F550 mini-pumper, a Polaris Ranger brush UTV, a Polaris Sportsman 6x6 rescue ATV, a Ski-Doo Tundra snowsled with a tobaggon for it, and an enclosed trailer that hauls all of our equipment. We also run an ambulance, 500/1800 tanker, and a 1250/1000 engine. The closest dept. to us doesn't run an ambulance so we cover them for EMS, too. We are a small dept. but are very well equipped and can handle anything in our area except for large fires where we need more tankers (there are no hydrants anywhere in our district).

Potsdam Rescue, Potsdam, NY

This is the dept. I belong to at school. We provide EMS services for the town/ village of Potsdam as well as a bunch of fire districts around us. We run about 3000 calls a year and operate 4 ambulances, an ALS flycar (Odyssey Suburban) and a heavy rescue with Jaws, HAZMAT decon, and MCI supplies. We also have a small boat for recoveries. There is a paid ALS medic and driver Mon-Fri, daytime hours. The rest is covered by the volunteers; we have 2 colleges within 1/2 a mile of the village so we can get really busy on weekends.

That is because you live in Ohio, the state where there is aprox. 3000 fire acadamies, 2600 paramedic school programs and 5372 police acadamies. Trying to get a job in this state as a civil servant is next to impossible. That or you are a mental midget and a social retard (I am just kidding about that part). For real though, this is not the state to live in for these type of jobs. Oh, and I do not know the real numbers of ech school, those numbers just sounded cool.

I thought the Pasedena, TX VFD was the largest?

Kinda one of those debates like "best burger in town." However, Pasadena is the largest MUNICIPAL vfd. Cy-Fair VFD works in a 180 square mile, unincorporated area of Harris County, Texas. Therefore it is not a municipal department. Cy-Fair covers more square milage and population, out of more stations. If Cypress was incorporated it would be the seventh largest city in the state.

Here is what I'm on

Neptune Twp Fire Dept Dist # 1 Neptune Twp, NJ

- Station 34-3 Shark River Hills Volunteer fire. "Brighton's Bravest" "Midtown Madness"

We Specialize in LDH and Water Supply in our town, we are one of the only pure engine companies left in our area and are proud of it. We do a lot of LDH (mainly revers lays), get good water source, then go to work and do aggressive interior attacks. Done in this order because our zone doesn't get a lot of structure fires and we are usually 2nd due. But if 1st Due we usually have the manpower to get 1-2 hand lines into service, as well as do a primary search and start ventilation. We are all volunteer. Only time we get any money is for Snow/Storm/Disaster Standby which is $10hr. Run a 2007 Pierce Enforcer and a 1995 E-One Typhoon.

- Station 34, Neptune Twp Fire Career Division Neptune, NJ. I have no clue what the motto is there. I work as a Per Diem FF/EMT for them when there are openings. We Run a 4 man Crew and usually are on scene for a good 5+ Min by ourselves for calls. It can get very interesting and you really get a good lesson in tactics when you work with these guys. We run EMS and FD, but EMS is via a single FF/EMT response in a utility to the First Aid Squad that has the call. Only CPR in progress, unresponsive/not breathing, Life Safety EMS calls will the Engine also roll. We Run 1 2008 F-550 Utility, and a 89 Mack Engine.

Neptune Twp. Emergency Medical Services Neptune Twp, NJ.

Primary Paid Place: Dynamic Security (at ArcelorMittal Harriman Steel Mill) as a Security Officer/EMT-IV...Good pay, but boring lol.

Secondary Paid Place: EMT-IV @ Cumberland County EMS in Crossville TN. I work here PRN (but am on medical leave right now due to some nerve damage in my arm)

Volunteer Depts:

Volunteer FF/EMT @ Luminary-Frostbite Volunteer Fire Department in Bledsoe County, TN. Very small, backwoods department. Only got two trucks and a handful of members. (But we are incredibly successful at saving foundations!! :D )

Founding Member/Training Officer @ Frostbite Initial Response Services Team (F.I.R.S.T.) in Bledsoe County, TN. This department is brand-spanking new, and just got started. Primary mission is Medical First Response in our area, with supporting missions of technical rescues and ground SAR. When I say brand-spanking new, I mean we just got approval from the county commission to start this. Eventually, we aim to expand to all areas of the county that are not covered by Fire-Based first responders (read that, most of this rural county). EMS response times are generally between 25-30 minutes to where we are based at the moment.

Mount Hope Fire Department, Mount Hope, Kansas - Paid/On call firefighters, we get expenses paid and more per number of calls. We don't consider ourselves Fire Rescue, because we really don't rescue people since there's nothing in fields that you can get into that you need rescuing from! We have 22 staff members, though only about 6 of us respond to calls regularly!

Fire Patrol Co. #1

Babylon Fire Dept - Babylon, NY

Despite the name we're the heavy rescue company. We're located in HQ with the ladder, 2 engine companies, and the ambulance. We're 100% volunteer.

North Canton Fire Department, Stark County, OH

2 Stations. Station 1 is the fire station, station 2 is EMS. 10 years ago we were 2 seperate departments. Now were a combined combination department.

EMS runs about 1800 runs a year, with 3 ambulances at station 2. 3 full time medics 24/48's, 2 part timers during the day, and paid per call volunteers "on-call" at home at night and daytimes on the weekend.

Fire runs about 400-500 calls a year. Station 1 has 3 pumpers, 1 aerial, 1 urban interface engine, 1 heavy rescue, and a back up squad. During weekdays it has 3 full time inspectors, and a full time chief, as well as 2 part timers during normal business hours. Station 1 is still a volunteer station as well as the paid members.

For the most part, the bulk of the personnel that operate are dual trained for fire and ems. It is one of the few departments in the area that you can just run fire or just run ems. We cover about 6 square miles, and have over 16,000 residents, as well as a college, and the old Hoover Vacuum industrial complex.

Paid: EMT-B/Plant Protection Officer 1 (our equivalent to shift supervisor) doing EMS, Rescue, and HAZMAT

Volunteer:

New Liberty Fire Dept. New Liberty covers a good portion of NW Scott County in IA. We have 7 vehicles including one of the few 3500 gallon tankers in the county that can mutual aid with Scott and Cedar counties. We do also operate a First Responder unit and all EMT-B licensed members are required to a membership with Bennett EMS. Last year only had 12 or so actual fire calls. Quite a few medicals though.

Bennett EMS: Volunteer ambulance service in the city of Bennett IA. Have around 20 members on staff and licensed at the Paramedic level. Covers territory in Cedar County and New Liberty's fire district. One rig with maybe 70 calls a year. We go to Genesis Hospitals and University of Iowa mostly.

Full Time

Eclectic Fire Dept. we cover 56 square miles and protect 6k, We have 2 stations, 2 engines, 50 ft quint, tanker, brush, utility, and 2 ambulances. We run an ALS transport with 3 full time and 3 part time. We have 25 volunteer fire fighters. We run about 500 combined calls a year.

Part time

Wetumpka Fire Dept. we cover 75 square miles and protect 25-30k. We have 4 stations, 4 engines, 100ft ladder, rescue pumper, tanker, 3 brush trucks, 2 rubber boats and 2 alum boats, and 2 command trucks. We have 2 part timers per shift and a full time chief, we were also just awarded a SAFER grant for 2 more per shift and we will have several fill in personal also, as well as 40 volunteers. We will go any where in the county we are needed. We have the Coosa river in our back yard with has over 10k people come down class 3 rapids a year, so we have swift water and dive rescue.

The two depts. are in the same county.

Woodbine Volunteer Fire & Rescue/Whitley County Rescue Squad

Completely Volunteer, We have Two Districts with three stations and cover Most of Whitley county and about 10 square miles in Knox county.

As of last night we have 54 active members, 16 trucks, and are hearing rumors from the SKFA that we are the largest volunteer fire department in the state.

All moneys brought in to fund the fire department are from grants, what little money the county will let go for fuel, and bingo.

We have had a slow start this year, only on run# 95 right now. But its warming up out.
