Hey Guys and Gals,

**Mods if I have not placed this in the right section please move this to the appropriate section.

I have a 2012 Ford Explorer (Civilian Model/Non-Police Package) and I need a trunk tray installed. I came up with a few blue prints and these are my two options. Please keep in mind this is a Personally Owned Vehicle and nothing needs to be drilled and/or permanent solution to a trunk tray.

Things to keep in mind when browsing pictures and posting comments:

- Trunk tray needs to be able to hold a heavy Yeti Ice chest

- Trunk tray needs to be able to be removed/un-installed without leaving behind a mess

- There is NOT a lot of tie-down points to "hold down" the tray whenever it is fully extended so it doesn't fall out the back (If you know of any other mounting options please let me know)

- There is TWO OPTIONS of trays either having the Yeti facing the back of the tailgate OR turning the Yeti sideways and having a small storage area beside it

**I would like to go with the option of having storage and being able to fully extend the Yeti out of the Explorer

I need opinions on EVERYTHING pertaining to building a trunk tray, the heavy duty slides that hold the tray, securing the tray to the vehicle, materials (sheets of metal, wielding??, screws, bolts, etc.)

All help is appreciated. Thanks guys!

We (D&R Electronics) have a full solution for both the civilian explorer and the Police Interceptor utility. First of all you will need a supporting sub-frame as there is zero to attach to otherwise. Second we have many storage units to secure to the sub-frame.

Here is a link to the sub-Frame - http://www.dandrelectronics.com/safety/product/933-0099a.html

Here are links to a few storage units based on your pictures.

we have more, these are just some of our most popular.

Thanks

How does the sub-frame attach to the vehicle itself? I do not want to drill holes OR have anything permanent.

With such few tie down points in the rear of the civi expo youre going to have a tough time finding a solution that doesn't require drilling. With something that load bearing like that it has to be mounted to a secure surface.

To Secure it normally you have to drill.if you are absolutely adamant about a non drill install you are probably going to have to go to a local metal shop or do it yourself and custom fabricate something to secure the subframe to your vehicle. However I have yet to find one that is non drill because it has to be bolted due to the difference in weight from side to side when the rack is fully extended
