Hi All. New to lighting and looking to get my 2014 Silverado LTZ 1500 truck outfitted with a nice lighting setup. I've been looking at the older CanTrol lighting controller and my plans are to have the following lighting installed (by me): Windshield light bar, Grill lighting, rocker lighting, rear windshield and or tailgate lighting. Color: All white if that's even possible?

I don't even know where to begin or what lighting units will work with the CanTrol unit. I've done some research to try and find out and I've read that WeCan works, but I just need some direction on how to obtain my goal on the vision of my install. Thanks in advanced for any info.

We talking blinky or steady burn or both?

All white makes no sense to me, especially since the profile says Massachusetts.

Not sure what their law is for blinky lights are, but wanna say its NOT blinky white for volunteer firefighters………DOT would seem nope nope, but IDK lol

You can go to Whelen and use that Simulate software and set a truck up. I think they only have Core but you can choose the light heads when you upload a program.

I've messed around with that simulator, but I also think it programs the lights as well so id want to make sure I'm programming properly for both strobe and steady.

CanTrols are great setups. They were the pinnacle of EV lighting until Core came to life.

I had looked at a variety of options (as you can see my me earlier posts here), but I wanted to be able to run yellow (electrical contractor), blue (firefighter/investigator) or both and have them synchronized, as well as having different levels of warning, from "hey, I'm parked here don't hit me" to "GETOUTTAMYWAYPLEASE", Combining that level of OCD with the number of light heads I wanted (as each head, being a duo, used 2 outputs) left the CanTrol as my only option (as many here pointed out),

So I guess the question is what is your goal with your lighting install? You might be able to achieve what you want with a smaller (and cheaper) system like a SmartLogic.

If you’re not affiliated with a local agency you should NOT have any lights in your vehicle. Impersonation of a police officer or a fire fighter is a felony . Not saying you would So be extremely careful

I would say save your money and don't waste it on lights you would never use or cannot legally use.

If you're not with an agency and do not volunteer the most you would probably use is steady white for off road. No blinky so no need for expensive light controller.
In case you frequently need to stop on the side of the road, do maintenance work etc. and you're allowed to use, flashing ambers could be useful. Avoid any other color for the above mentioned reasons.

In any case check your local laws. I am from Europe so I would not know :)
