Anyone familiar with the 9/11 Seagrave Ladder Memorial Truck? What are the roof mounted beacons on the roof? Are these the "biggest of the big beacons"? What are some really BIG beacons out there? I am only familiar with the RV-45. which is a beast to me. If you have any pics, i would love to see them as well. Thank you to all who participate in advance.

The beacons are Federal 184 Power Lights on top of the cab. They are big beacons, but there are some others that I know of that are slightly bigger that are still in production, and others that are not anymore.

Dietz 7-11 on a VSP 8-211 speaker base, which are very rare to come by according to Diggerdoug. He had this one restored and up for sale on his website

All of these are the same dome and base design, but the rotator assemblies vary with par bulb size and the bulb-plate holders. These are the largest diameter and height for any beacon to be used on a vehicle, minus the 120V Mark 12.

Tri-Lite/Tripp-Lite RF-64 and S-74(photo credit John Marcson for these Tripp-Lites), Tri-Lite Mark 12 (I own two of these: see avatar), and the rare Tripp-Lite S-75, which was their version of a Federal 175 beacon

Sorry for some of the photo duplications CrownVic97... we must've been posting at the same time.......

The CJ184's and 184 "High-Boy" are, as CrownVic stated from my personal collection. The dupes in this post are already credited thanks to CrownVic97. The large 5200-PA pic is courtesy of Ford Dealer, the smaller from the web, the Yankee 264 "Trooper Special" is courtesy of DiggerDug as is the unrestored Dietz 711/VSP and the 5000-PA was found on Flickr (they don't look all that big until you see them on a cruiser, then you realize just how tall they were);

I also recall that someone posted a thread a while back about a huge beacon that was used in the 80's and 90's on top of apparatus, usually in the middle of the roof. The beacon featured six(?) rotating bulbs (not sure if PAR 36 or PAR 46) and the entire beacon had the ability to be raised up from its base to use the scene lights that were attached under the top beacon portion of the light.

That thing was a monster.

These shots of PSP cruisers give you an idea just how BIG the 5000-PA was.... it even looked huge on a '75 Gran Fury! Photos from the web, photographers unknown.......

I think this is what you are referring to. MotorolaManiac said this is called a Stemlight. Maybe he or someone else can shed some information on its history.

The Stemlight (from the ones i have seen, only 2), did have six to eight bulbs that rotate on a carriage. I know that they made one that was a simple roof mount, and another that raised up on a stalk..... There is one in the A. Leider collection in NY.

Now THAT is seriously, SERIOUSLY COOL!! Was that a "one-off" from FS? LOVE to have that, the Dietz 711/VSP and Yankee 264 "Trooper Special" in my "odd-ball-super-cool-not-so-common-beacon" collection!!

The link is a thread about it... I think it was a prototype

Somebody HAS to have a video of the warning beacon version of this system, either with the Code 3 rotators or even better, the sealed beam version :popcorn:

I think someone here had a video of it from an "Emergency 911" episode.

I think that might have been me a while back when another member brought up the Stemlites. I found it again. It's a "Rescue 911" segment when the first fire unit pulls down the hill. It's an all clear-lensed version with what appears to be red, blue, and clear par36s. Skip to 2:00.

There was a Stemlight w/red dome for sale on a table at the Allentown Spring Melt today, but I didn't have a camera with me. That thing is super huge. Larger than I remember.

I hope someone else got a shot of it.
