MI Law Enforcement

Throwback Thursday

Two Hazel Park (north suburban Detroit) police cars from photos on the wall at a barber shop. Both have the Michigan State Police style hood fin. I thought the speaker placement on the second one was very intersting.IMG_8378ch.jpg IMG_8377ch.jpg

They look more like PA speakers, like they were driving around trying to convince people to re-elect the sheriff LOL

Auburn Hills Police.. it should also be noted that Auburn Hills is where Chrysler is headquarted. I hated these graphics and those lightbars.

That Southfield Blazer is awesome!

Came across a picture of a Spring Lake/Ferrysburg police Caprice, which I never knew they had. They had CVs as far back as I personally remember, and just recently the Ottawa County Sheriffs department took over their area and the SL/F pd was ended.SLFPD.jpg

I can't tell you the last time I saw an all-red lighting setup on a police vehicle in Michigan.. aside from MSP. Great picture.

I'm having a heckuva time with this new layout, haha. I'm referring to the lightbar in this pic. Auburn Hills PD vehicles.

The auburn hills intrepids appear to have code 3 XS8000 Intensity bars.

Is there a ribbon around the mirror on the Caprice or is that some added support for it? lol

Those Jeeps are tits!

I saw a picture on the MI DNR facebook page a few days ago that showed a sealed beam Unity on the roof of a current body MSP Charger, but it isnt a picture of the car, just of a bunch of DNR officers. Just happen to see the Unity on it and was happy it didnt have the LED retrofit in it!

Here's the pic; it's part of the Conservation Officer Academy, which is held at MSP's academy. This was probably classroom portion on traffic stops.

Thats the one! There was ONE new Charger at the Grand Haven post with a non- LED Unity but that changed not long after I first saw it.

That Vision SLR isn't period correct on a vintage collectible like that :p

That's pretty close to an accurate statement!

I've never seen a Livonia patrol with a Vision bar at all.. much less an SLR. I wonder of this was just someone at an install shop experimenting, having play time.

Just wanted to know if anyone from Michigan could tell me how long the counties used the black paint on the hood/roof/trunk for the sheriff cars, was looking at the old Eaton county cars.

I would say most of the 70s and all of the 80s. I believe1989 is when the black-striped Michigan map with Sheriff's star debuted.
