Today I drove by a trooper stopped with a motorist assist.
Front half of light bar + bumper was lit up amber. No blue visible, Red and Amber TD to the rear. One of their crown vic's.
Honestly, I'm generally unimpressed by the rear footprint visually. In "roadside stop" mode pretty much every single car I have seen only has the corners colored, and the entire back half is in seizure mode, amber in color. Really no way to identify it as an emergency vehicle until you're on top of it.

killCARB027 said:When you say "Today I drove by a trooper stopped with a motorist assist" are you talking about Nevada state troopers/Nevada Highway Patrol vehicles or troopers from another state and do you mean the trooper was assisting a motorist on the side of the road or that he was driving a vehicle specifically labeled as a Motorist Assistance unit? I have seen a ton of Nevada Highway Patrol vehicles and most of them have Red & Blue LED lightbars with Amber arrowstick in rear (except for their new Taurus patrol cars which have 50/50 Red & Blue LED's in both the front and back, no Amber anywhere). I have never seen an NHP car with a single Amber flashing light facing the front as you alluded to.

I'm also about 2 miles from a NHP Office as well, but they all have take home cruisers. I also live on the most major "bypass the city" highway to highway route for NHP and every other agency in this county, so my life is a non-stop lights and siren show.
You're in california, so unless you're getting pulled over every time you come into nevada I'd say you don't see cruisers working as much as I do.
I guess I'm just seeing stuff, after all I was WTF'ing hardcore when it didn't appear to even have any blue to the rear, and was red/amber only. There was NO RED and NO BLUE visible to the front, and I even had my wife turn around and look directly at the cruiser. The only Motorist Assistance Units I have seen in this state are the god ugly vans they drive around in reno.
I have seen full red-blue bars that alternate red side blue side and are bright as crap + identifiable from miles away. I have seen the vast majority of cruisers that have only the corner lights to the rear R/B, entire bar lit up in seizure mode amber, and strobe hideaways in the backup lights. Usually they're R/B/W to the front with a 4-6 head bar on the push bumper.
I was baffled yesterday with that one crown vic, but whatever.

Keith K. said:The new lighting setup is relatively simple. Dual color Valor lightbars. Rer and blue to the front with white takedown override.red and blue to the rear with a TD override. I have yet to meet a Trooper that does not love the flood feature.
The push bumpers have red and blue alternating UltraLite 8s. Hideaway LEDs in the front corners and rear tails....thats it. The trucks and full size SUVs have a much nicer complement of lighting. I've found that NHP try's vehicles and will have some odd balls flapping around. One interceptor SUV has an all white UltraLite8 on the grill. They only bought 6 caprices and 10 interceptor sedans. They bought a ton of The Interceptor SUVs.
These cars are difficult to work on. There were a tone of wire configurations that could be ordered. If I had to do it again, I'd get the ready for the road package, add a console, mount the radio, install a lightba, drop the cage and be done with it. Id take a truck or full size SUV any day over up fitting one of these again.
