Does anyone have any videos of the Nevada Highway Patrol's new vehicles?

i LOVE the graphics and color schemes of these cars. they look very intimidating. would love to see them lit up.

Well, I can tell you they have at least dual, if not tricolor bars on some of the rigs.

Today I drove by a trooper stopped with a motorist assist.

Front half of light bar + bumper was lit up amber. No blue visible, Red and Amber TD to the rear. One of their crown vic's.

Honestly, I'm generally unimpressed by the rear footprint visually. In "roadside stop" mode pretty much every single car I have seen only has the corners colored, and the entire back half is in seizure mode, amber in color. Really no way to identify it as an emergency vehicle until you're on top of it.

Amber to front? Interesting...

When you say "Today I drove by a trooper stopped with a motorist assist" are you talking about Nevada state troopers/Nevada Highway Patrol vehicles or troopers from another state and do you mean the trooper was assisting a motorist on the side of the road or that he was driving a vehicle specifically labeled as a Motorist Assistance unit? I have seen a ton of Nevada Highway Patrol vehicles and most of them have Red & Blue LED lightbars with Amber arrowstick in rear (except for their new Taurus patrol cars which have 50/50 Red & Blue LED's in both the front and back, no Amber anywhere). I have never seen an NHP car with a single Amber flashing light facing the front as you alluded to.

I hail from alaska but I'm living in this miserable looks like afghanistan smells like unwashed keister and glows in the dark state.

I'm also about 2 miles from a NHP Office as well, but they all have take home cruisers. I also live on the most major "bypass the city" highway to highway route for NHP and every other agency in this county, so my life is a non-stop lights and siren show.

You're in california, so unless you're getting pulled over every time you come into nevada I'd say you don't see cruisers working as much as I do.

I guess I'm just seeing stuff, after all I was WTF'ing hardcore when it didn't appear to even have any blue to the rear, and was red/amber only. There was NO RED and NO BLUE visible to the front, and I even had my wife turn around and look directly at the cruiser. The only Motorist Assistance Units I have seen in this state are the god ugly vans they drive around in reno.

I have seen full red-blue bars that alternate red side blue side and are bright as crap + identifiable from miles away. I have seen the vast majority of cruisers that have only the corner lights to the rear R/B, entire bar lit up in seizure mode amber, and strobe hideaways in the backup lights. Usually they're R/B/W to the front with a 4-6 head bar on the push bumper.

I was baffled yesterday with that one crown vic, but whatever.

Are those SOS Mighty Mites on the sides of the push bumpers? If so, do they flash or are they setup like alley lights?

they look like the Mighty Mites. Damn it, I need to see this lit up!

in my head i picture them flashing, with perfect red/blue 50/50 split light bar and grill lights with amber TA override in the rear. thats in my head.

Something, however, tells me that its going to be a R/B/R/B/R/B purple blob.

I have two really short videos of one of their new Interceptors. I'll have to put them on youtube tomorrow. Not a fan, but I am really happy they went back to their old scheme. Where's the dang silver roofs?!?!!? lol

You're right I don't see Nevada Highway Patrol vehicles as often as you do but I did see a brand new NHP Interceptor sedan and GMC pickup two weeks ago in California at the Ripon show. If this NHP cruiser was equipped with Amber only lights in front, Red & Amber lights to the rear then it must have been some sort of non-law enforcement NHP motorist assistance or community service unit. I have occasionally seen non-emergency roadside maintenance or private security vehicles in Nevada with this same setup Amber flashing lights in front, Red & Amber rear facing.

** By the way Nevada may look similar to Afghanistan but it's a better state to live in than California which is loosing jobs left and right thanks to our stupid governor and the DemoRat party).

I dont like the new graphics, to me, they look kind of New Mexico state policeish. I think their gold stripe they had.

AK what part of NV are you in? I am looking at moving to Goldfield or Tonopah.

I personally would recommend Pahrump over Tonopah. I'm further north towards Reno but Tonopah ain't got a go-dang thing other than the DOE stuff...

True. But I applied for Esmeralda county :)

:) Well, I can't say either way as to how busy you'll be work wise.

Goldfield is more historical, Tonapah has more amenities. The good thing is that you aren't too far from being able to hit up Vegas for anything you can't get locally or shipped.

True. And I have a buddy that works NDOC now and he lives in Vegas and worked in Tonopah. Now he is at High Desert DP outside of Vegas.

He is the one that told me about the county. I don't mind it being slow. I am trying to read as much as I can about the county and I love it so far. I hope I hear back from them.

One a side note. I have seen a CHP unit with two NHP units on a stop near Jean. When I passed it looked like someone played the if I cross state lines you can't follow me game....and lost. I was more excited to see the CHP car then I was to see the NHP cars lol. And I see CHP everyday.

The new lighting setup is relatively simple. Dual color Valor lightbars. Rer and blue to the front with white takedown override.red and blue to the rear with a TD override. I have yet to meet a Trooper that does not love the flood feature.

The push bumpers have red and blue alternating UltraLite 8s. Hideaway LEDs in the front corners and rear tails....thats it. The trucks and full size SUVs have a much nicer complement of lighting. I've found that NHP try's vehicles and will have some odd balls flapping around. One interceptor SUV has an all white UltraLite8 on the grill. They only bought 6 caprices and 10 interceptor sedans. They bought a ton of The Interceptor SUVs.

These cars are difficult to work on. There were a tone of wire configurations that could be ordered. If I had to do it again, I'd get the ready for the road package, add a console, mount the radio, install a lightba, drop the cage and be done with it. Id take a truck or full size SUV any day over up fitting one of these again.

It's 29k a year. But I am not in it for the money. When I was a cop in Arkansas I was making 14.05 an hour, for a full time sworn officer. It's just goes with the area.

Keep your eye open up north. 55-60k with good equipment and closer to big cities.

I know Fallon PD's looking for a couple officers, not sure about Churchill county. Churchill basically runs all Explorers, Fallon runs a mix of SUV's and CVPI's. To be honest I'd rather live closer to Vegas than up this way just because of the selection of amenities it has compared to Reno or Carson City.

Hi guys. I know this isn't a video - but this should help everyone see what the light patterns look like on the new Nevada HP Ford Interceptor. I took these pictures over the summer while I was in Utah. Sadly, these pictures were shot at the funeral of Utah Trooper Aaron Beesley.

Of course I am! But It's true. The Front end of the Taurus looks more like the front end of a Camary, and the front end of the Explorer.. well it looks like it's smiling at ya. So does the rear end. But hey that's only because it is butt ugly :) Just my opinion of course. Now the Charger.. Well it has a more intimidating look all around! I love it. It has a "Get out of my way" type of attitude about it, compared to the happy go lucky/stupid look of the Fords. And the Caprice kinda looks a little sad too, hate to say. Thankfully the performance on the Caprice makes up for what lacks in the looks department. Guess the same can be said a little bit for the Fords too.

i agree with you. there is nothing more intimidating or bad-ass then a black and white charger with black steelies and black windows! Charger FTW!!

Emergency colors to the front, warning to the rear. I really dont want folks to pay so much attention to me that they are distracted by a bunch of blue/red lights.

Yeah, except that it's just a bumblef- of light that is bright and unidentifiable. Good luck having a Move Over for emergency vehicles law function in court when you're not identifiable as an emergency vehicle within a reasonable time to get over.

Most MS agencies are less than 15.00 per hour. Some make 10.00!!

Holy crap! I know it comes with the territory but holy crap! I was making that at 16 years old.

My first cop job in rural North Dakota I was making $15.30 and I thought that was bad!

LVMPD also has a couple odd-ball vehicles from testing, but they went with the Explorer. I believe LVMPD will be using Vision SLRs, and I know for sure that they're changing up the graphics package to something new (the old graphics were still on test vehicles). The first batch of new Explorers should hit the road by the middle of August for LVMPD.
