I am lost with this forum in reference to people who direct traffic on interstates along with the unsafe stopping at DMVs and automobile accidents. We used to crucify these people as whackers, now they are accepted as first responders when in reality they create more chaos than good.

I agree that it is a little much. The rear would be nice with the bar, two LP grille lights, and LAWs

On a good note, you are the only car on the road who has the Rocket-X 6 Head 6TIR bar!

Yes that is 1 Bright Ass bar and I love it.

Wish I had the money for more of these type of bars, I have gotten alot of complements on it though.

At least they can't say they didn't see me Lol.

And before you Bashers say it,I know they'd say they didn't see me because they were Blinded.

Here in WI, we have these crazy new things called "orange barrels". They are set up in construction zones so that vehicles are aware of the construction zone and they know which lanes to travel in. They work very well. A UFO/Car parked on the shoulder would just serve as a distraction to cause a back-up and possibly a serious accident.

What purpose do the front lights serve on the interstate? They look bright as hell.

Well here in Indiana we have the same thing, Except we now have a new thing called texting and driving or just not paying attention and these people will drive right into fresh poured concrete which is about 6-10" thick.

Yes the front lights are very bright.

I use them whenever I need to warn both front and rear oncoming traffic.

Does that answer your question ?

As for being parked on the shoulder ,I am not.

Iam actually blocking 1 lane on the interstate.

I hope you get paid more then we do as Troopers here in Indiana. I just park on the shoulder with an arrow on and throw out a crap load of flares. You cant pay me enough to PARK IN A LANE.

I am not sure how new the texting issue is, I know I have had it on my phone for about 7 years. They did just make it a law but I bet you state wide less then 10 citations have been scratched for it.

This is just my perspective on the situation, carry on.

Well if you are a ISP Officer then you are well aware of how these people are on the Indiana Highways.

Especially in Cone Zones, The 45 Mph speed limits don't mean anything to them.

As far as my pay not sure what you guys make doing this off duty,But I normally get $22.63 hr whenever I'm asked to work it. I know the new text & drive law will not really go far, But it's a start.

Thanks for your input and stay safe.

A lot of lights for no reason.

We've been thru this so many times with you. First it was funeral escorting, now it's sitting in construction zones only now your new whip is a CVPI.

Really? I mean, let's be serious now. I know several guys (real, actual, police officers) who are actually paid by various construction and security companies to sit at construction zones in the Indy metro area. They get maybe $20/hr and are REQUIRED TO USE AN OFFICIAL VEHICLE with RED AND BLUE lights and be in FULL UNIFORM.

That's the deal up here.

I've worked for a local/regional construction company as recently as a couple of months ago, when they did work on US-31. Had to be a fully marked squad car, with red/blue lights and I had to be in full uniform (even though I never left my car). I made $25/hr.

Finally, someone else on here with a level head.

A note for you to remember next time you decide to post,if you cant handle the heat stay out the kitchen! :sadcry:

The same purpose could be fullfilled by a huge sign board with lights all over it. I am confused as to what exactly your services are marketed as. "Hire me, the guy who has lights on his car and will sit by your construction site with them on, but has no authority over anyone what so ever."

In essence, you are a fire police mercenary, and you both have about as much business being on the side of a busy highway scene.

Well I can see everyones point of view and how every area is different.

But I currently work for 3 different Security/Traffic Control companies and all 3 are owned by Merit Indiana Police Officers.

And all 3 owners like my car and it's setup.

Not to mention I am now required by 1 company to be a Union member in which I have signed up for so I make scale wages thru the Local Laborers Union.

And only a 1 mile sq radius of downtown Indpls. are you required to be an actual LEO in uniform.

Heck I was out on that same Interstate last night working with a State Trooper that was hired by the 2nd company doing work out there.

As for the to much lights thing , Maybe your right.

But it is my choice, and money that pays for them & I am perfectly legal.

I have been doing this for the past 20 yrs and worked all over the State of Indiana and never have I ever been questioned about who I was or why my car had all the lights in it.

I personally do not agree with You or your buddies being out there in a Uniform and Vehicle my tax dollars help pay for making money on the side.

And then you wanna Bitch about me being out there doing the same traffic job with a uniform, car and equiptment that I bought ? WTF is wrong with that picture.

It's not a State Law that I am aware of that you have to be a Merit LEO to do traffic control, maybe a city ordinance or a Dept. rule.

I guess it would be different if I was chasing Police cars and Firetrucks around or pulling people over for driving like an idiot.

But I'm not these light only get used when I'm working. Yes maybe an arrow board would do the trick,But it's not what the Companies we work for want.

Hell I wish I could get a free car with lights, a free uniform and free meals at McD's and still make $20-$30hr on the side.

And you all still find crap to Bitch about, It's no wonder the world if so Fucked up.

I don't think that free cars, free uniforms, and free McDonalds is the reason the world is "so Fucked(sic) up".

1. Many cops don't have take home cars.

2. The cars aren't for fun

3. Not all get free uniforms

4. Free McD's? I heard of coffee...

5. You could have had all of that if you would have become a LEO

6. Your car isn't bad, alittle less clear would help up front.

7. Im fine with tax money going to pay for public saftey, even if it means paying a cop to do a traffic detail. Why? Because they have more effect than a car with amber lights.

It's not the free stuff you get from being a Police Officer that makes the world a F*#ked up place.

It's all the unhappy and ungrateful people who continues to create problems that don't need to be created.

I'm just stating the facts that as a LEO you get all the luxuries of the things our Tax dollars help pay for to make their job easier. Not to mention the ones who get discounted to free housing in alot of apt complexes.

And they still continue to complain about everything.

Hell I think if an officer wants to do side Security & Traffic jobs, they need to be required to pay a fee to use the city owned vehicle, pay for the gas in said vehicle and wear a non dept issued uniform.

Because I have to pay for all of my stuff ,So why shouldn't they ?

You need to see it from my point of view.

And just because I work security and do traffic that makes me a wanna be or a whacker ?

That's not really fair that as a non leo that I cannot do a job I enjoy or collect and play with the blinkies.

As long as I am within the legal boundries of the laws and do not over step them ,Then what's the issue ?

You don't see me getting on here and bashing all of you because of the things you do or like to do,So why do it to me.

I guess my biggest beef is that alot of LEO's get and get and get and never seem to be happy.

Hey guys be happy you have a job and if your not happy, then make a career change.

That is your problem. You aren't performing the same job as a LEO. What are you to do if someone says to hell with you, shoots you the finger and drives around you? Call an actual cop I would assume.

A.) Why shouldn't they get things to make their jobs easier?

B.) Life isn't fair.

C.) Your entire rant begs the question, "Then why didn't you become a cop?"

+1 Or is it that you knew you would not be able to deal with seeing all the crap we go through. Like taking statements from children who were raped, or processing a crime scene when a young child was shot with a shotgun by her father infront of her mother and two little brothers????? Damn right we deserve MORE than what we get, we deal with so much we deserve every bit and then some.

You're right you have a stressful job,If it's that much of a pain in the Ass then quit you God Dam crybaby.

It's my life,my money and I do with it what I please. And you can either deal with it or just plan and simple ,Not read my post !

I have been on a Vol. FD and did coroner pick ups, I have seen 1st hand death of a Child who was ejected from a roll over when mom over corrected her minivan. And I put the childs lifeless body into a Body bag and it just so happens that the kid was in my son's class.

Or the Body of a man who commited suicide in his house over a month ago in the dead of winter with the heat on 80*

And when you arrive the Family pet has been eatting his body.

Or you pull up to a MVA with entrapment and you are the only 1 there ,the car is on fire and the person is trapped and there isn't a damn thing you can do except watch them burn up alive.

So I understand the stress of a Job.

You my friend are not the only person who has had STRESS !!!!!

You do come off as very childish. I'm willing to bet that's why you make a living sitting on the highway with a ton of lights flashing. Not much critical thinking skills needed. It's not that you don't WANT to be a police officer, it's just that you CAN'T. So stop putting down cops because you think it's unfair they have stuff you don't.

everything paid for by my Tax Dollars.

Because all of my stuff I've paid for from my hard earned dollars.

One of my friends that was in the academy with me was 42 at that time. Not only did he make it he got into a PD with a very dificult agility test. I mean up and down a 12 story fire escape in 4 minutes or less is freaking crazy. But thats what it takes to work at South Padre Island PD.

Well I dont know about all the other stuff but you were not working with a troop that was hired by a company because we cant do that on the side. You might have been at a scene where a troop was assigned by the powers that be of the great state of Indiana. He was working on-duty as a police officer if he was there. If he was there in any other capacity downtown will have his (and the company he worked for) nuts.
