These Caprices were great cars indeed I believe this one is either an 88' or 89' due to the fact the shoulder belt is not mounted further forward on the door itself. I think they'd give the CVPI's a run for their money. These things were definitely beasts!!

This B-Body could be anything from 1986 to 1989.

My 1970 Chevrolet National Ambulance on display at the facility where I work. It has a Unity Spitfire light on top, a Federal Q, and an origanal GE PowerCall. It is fully equipped with 1970's BLS gear.

My 1967 Hess & Eisenhardt (S&S) Cadillac Park Hill combination. Although it's not mounted in this picture, it has a Federal demountable beacon and under the hood is a Federal 28 siren. It too is fully equipped with 1960's gear. (Not that a funeral home ambulance had much, at least by today's standards.)

B-bodys ran from 59-96! With little change to the frame and chassis for the most part! But amenity wise they were never high up, even my 96 Impala SS lacks options that my 1969 Hurst Olds has, like telescoping steering wheel for example.

Yes, but we were referring to the car in the picture, which could by any B-Body between 87 and 89.

That's a beautiful Chevrolet/National! I can remember when

they were almost everywhere! Can also remember those

Springfield/International Travel-alls! Those were real work

horses for FDs and rescue squads back then!

They made THOUSANDS of 'em! Wonder where they all ended

up? Would love to find one! It would complete my EV collection!

Drove an early Travel-all in my VFD back in the 60s.

The private ambo service that I worked for had Caddies.

Sold the Chevy military Pickup I had posted before and bought a 1984 Military M1009 Blazer to replace it. Put the same Federal Signal AeroDynic on the Blazer and added some old Whelen 900 strobes as well. Still have the Chevy Military M1010 ambulance, but the lightbar is the same one I moved to the Blazer.

Video(Bridgeport OHV Park):

Made some changes to my M1009 Military blazer, took off the AeroDynic lightbar and replaced it with a CARR lightbar rack. The AeroDynic is a great lightbar and I can swap between the two if I wanted, but I like the CARR setup better. Reason is that I have four ProComp 55w flood lights so I can see where I am going at night and two amber beacons on the ends. Instead of using strobes I am using two Federal Signal Ultrastar LED beacons and the beacons do fit what would have been used in the 80s. I would have used strobes, but most people will not know the difference and I got them for a steal. The front 900 Whelen are still the same LED and using those because I do not need a power supply and minimal gauge wiring. The square black LED lights are 10w white flood lights by Rigid Industries, they are my basic aux driving lights that I can use on-road and not blind other drivers.

Cool ride.

I got to drive one of those while in Germany in the mid-80s during an Allied Forces meeting in West Berlin.

The Americans were always making fun of us in our Peugeot 305 "Senior Officers Car" or worse, the plastic-built, canvas-roofed Citroen Mehari! On the highway to Stuttgart, as we were crawling at 80 km/h on the right lane, we could hear the growl of a bunch of V8 catching up and passing us at a steady 120 kmh...

We'd usually get a salute ...and a smirk... )

Hey Tallen do you have pics of the finished 97 MA STATE POLICE? - I would like to see the finished results.

Thanks ! - Greg

My 1948 Dodge B-1 Power Wagon, and the Federal Jr Beacon Ray on the roof, and the Federal Enterprises O siren on the front bumper. None are permanently mounted, they can both be put on and taken off. Mainly for use when I do stuff related to CDF, or CAL FIRE, where I am a Captain. The patch on the door is stuck on a magnet so it can also be removed.

Nice power wagon, those older ones are sweet trucks.

Well since this was bumped, here is my 2012 Memorial Day display in my front yard. Notice how vehicles have changed, the M1010 Ambulance is at an off site location and I bought a M1031 Maintenance truck a few months ago. The pickup was down for repairs and was not able to be moved.

Are you going to restore the new crown vic on the trailer also?

Car on the trailer was first prepped for a movie (

) and once that was done was refurbished mechanically and cosmetically and is long sold.. those pics are from around 2008. I kept the 97 for future restoration as it had 56K on the car when I got it and was still in pretty good shape. I figure I will restore the car to inservice look in the next 2-6 years, simply no rush.

Well I have a Chevy military M1010 ambulance, but is 1985 really vintage?

aimages19.fotki.com_v1612_photos_9_14219_8277115_Beater_vi.jpg

Is it one of the old "crackerbox" ambulances or one of the Type II vans. My VFD had a '76 Type II Chevy van ambulance that was ex-Air Force. And the state surplus agency where we found the van still had two old station wagon ambulances: a '64 ford and a '68 Plymouth. I would've liked to have had the Plymouth!

Jon: The pic of the Suburban didn't come up. I like your new combo. But you know I liked the old Pontiac better.
