Due to the fact that the Feniex Rocker Panel Light is twice the thickness
of the HG2 Runner it is not designed to be installed under the body of a
police car. With this bulky design you have lost all of your stealthiness
and covert design which is what the HG2 product line represents.
Brightness is never the challenge it is the low profile design that makes
the HG2 Runner one of a kind in the lighting market.
Being that it is 1 inch tall it wont be long before it is ripped off the
body of the vehicle. This compromises the safety of the public as well as
the officers.
I drive a Crown Victoria. While I do not have the Feniex Rocker Panel lights, I have run one inch thick (thicker lights than the Feniex's) under my car for over a year. I've been in numerous pursuits (on road, off road, air born, and through heavy enough brush that I've had mirrors knocked off). I've had the entire front end of my patrol car replaced but the lights under neath went unharmed. The key is mounting position.
So since a marked car does not need to be covert, you are saying that the HG2 runner is not suitable for my needs as I am driving a marked car? I need bright EFFECTIVE warning, not something hidden.

With that said the Feniex Rocker Panel Light is basically an interior
light bar thrown in a box with "Headliner" brackets. This puts a burden on
the Installer spending hours trying to install it and getting it wired
correctly!
I'm not trying to be confrontational, but.... they designed their light for the place it will be. The Cobra series is not an interior bar. I'm sure they would not offer it if they felt that it would not work. I've heard that the install of these on a Crown Victoria is relatively easy. Is it as simple as pulling back some tape from the back side of a strip light? No. But wiring isn't a big issue... especially when i have effective patterns, traffic advisor capability, as well as alley light/work light options.
And if it is just a light bar thrown in a box, the majority of people here feel that the HG2 rocker lights are in just another strip light trying to be an emergency light. Are they a cool idea? Yes, but your argument above about it not being meant to be bright as much as it is covert will not earn my business on my installs or on my active duty patrol car.
It is of my opinion... that if it needs to be covert, it doesn't need much side lighting done at all because it will not have the same functions as most non-covert police cars.

I highly doubt the half inch difference is going to be a problem. It may be a half inch thicker, but it is less expensive, and best of all brighter.
Tom, I'm currently running some TIR4 style lights I purchased from you a year ago under my car. I've put my patrol car through hell and they have gone unscathed.

$825. The price I was quoted as a "sale" for HG2 runners was $799. So that argument goes to you, however; i'm sure I could also get them cheaper than that as a sale.
I'm in the market for two sets of runner lights. I still might by one of each just to compare them on the cars. At which time I will do a full side by side review and comparisson. I will even put the HG2 on an impala that has more ground clearance than my
CVPI and also doesn't see the abuse that my
CVPI sees.
I just read the thread in the ring completely. You might be able to complain about someone to get them removed or handicapped at a car show, but I can assure you that it will not get us removed from ELB.
