I hate my vest but I wear it religiously becuase I don't want some one some day telling my wife I'm not here now cause I didn't wear my vest.
I don't mind my vest so much. It took some time to get used to but this one isn't so bad.
I used to have a safariland zero g vest and it wasn't comfortable at all. I hated wearing it but I did. New vest is made by armour express and I really like it.
We recently had a officer killed execution style in the town I work in. First officer to actually be shot and killed in the line of duty in the county.

he is a a cop,no excuses not to wear a vest,i have friends on a department that normally has at least 10 or more cops on a shift,they had the same attitude as station 3 till a incident hit close to home. now they wear it faithfully while on the street or sitting in the station.

I have yet to go to the funeral of an officer that was killed when not wearing a vest, nor will I. Especially if it furnished by the dept. Shame on your agency for not making it mandatory to begin with. Although I sure some union zombie would whine about being "forced" to do it.

Just about the same time our policy changed to mandatory. I wore it sporadically, or slipped on a raid vest for certain situations, prior to the policy change.
I'm not even an LEO and I wear body armor (sometimes). When on a call anyways, not just in my civvies! lol
I come from a family of cops ( I passed the fire service test!!!! :razz: ) My dad is the elected sherriff and he wears his no matter if her is in the office all day, on the street, or at a city council meeting. My 3 brothers are the same way! Hell, even i have one that i wear when on duty and a call makes the hair on my neck stand up!!!

I dont know what the big deal is its my decision and i choose not to wear it. I accept the fact that i may get shot one day its part of the job if i did not want to be in any danger i would not be in this profession and i would be doing something else. Im quick with my gun and i live by it and maybe someday i will die by it if its my fait.
