I accept the fact that i may get shot one day its part of the job if i did not want to be in any danger i would not be in this profession and i would be doing something else. Im quick with my gun and i live by it and maybe someday i will die by it if its my fait.
I don't think anybody gives a fuck if you don't care if you die, except for the fact that's completely and utterly 100% against the ONE motto that EVERY cop has, which is "go home at the end of your shift". If you want to die, that's fine and we're all sorry that you live such a pathetic life that you can't take precautions against losing it.
The reason WE care is because WE (collectively as law enforcment officers) are the ones that get stuck having to deal with the aftermath. The sadness, the possible PTSD, arranging funerals, carrying a casket, helping your family, having to remember you every day when we get in a patrol car.
What it comes down to is this; not wearing a vest is fucking SELFISH. You're not taking into consideration your community, your department, and certainly not your family. Fuck it if it's not comfortable to wear. If you want a comfortable job go work in an office somewhere. We take risks and put aside personal comfort in this job, if you can't hack it with the BARE MINIMUM SAFETY ITEMS, GTFO you fat fuck.
If you can't get any of that fact through your head that wearing a vest shouldn't just be about YOU, than you have little to no compassion and probably aren't a very good cop. I already know that you're out of shape so you don't take your job very seriously. It's further solidified that you're not compassionate enough to be a good cop if you can't take 2 seconds to put on a vest and bite the bullet for an 8-12 hour shift with it on.
