The Fire Helmet Thread

I have a question for 36TruckK...If an owner of a 5A New Yorker had sent their helmet to Cairns (when the 5A was still approved for use) for repainting or refurbishing, would Cairns replace the round medallion on the inside of the helmet (if it was the later / foil type)? If they did replace it, how would the original year the helmet was manufactured be determined?
