Twin Twins Have a New Home

Thanks to a post in the Off Site forum I nabbed a nice pair of Twins today. Kind of a wild ride in snow and ice in NJ and PA but was worth it.
The bars came off an old Chevy ambulance which just sold also. Both are Model 12s one has DOT markers (rear bar) and the other has dual TS100s.

Inside, other than dirt, there is no corrosion and all bolts are free. The clear domes should Polish out well. Bulbs are blue and clear in both. Really nice bars. They both work flawlessly just as any Twin would.IMG_20160113_012143.jpg IMG_20160113_012152.jpg IMG_20160113_012326.jpg download_20160113_025837.jpeg download_20160113_025842.jpeg

Very nice and the front Twinsonic has a pair of TS100 speakers! These Twinsonics also have series 3 motors, so you should be able to find a label on the motor that will have a date of manufacture.

A bit off topic, but I just saw an old 1962 pumper with a pristine red/red 12X TwinSonic on her. They are still being used!

I forget where I was, but a few months ago I saw a rescue/brush type vehicle with a TwinSonic still in service. Back then, Federal Signal built things to last and if you take reasonable care of them, they will last seemingly forever.

I agree, the Series 1 CTS I just found in the San Diego area over Christmas ran a little slow for about 10 seconds, then came up to full speed.

We had an old Fridge King refrigerator, bought is the 50's and lasted until about 2005. 50$ back then. We changed the light bulb inside once.
Now you get a 2,000$ one and you're lucky if it lasts 5 years without making funny noises. Old stuff was built to last indeed. I'll stop here before derailing this thread further... :p

Restorable to say the least, the domes are cleaning up to like new condition. One bar has been gone through cleaned and domes wet sanded. Buffed one out tonight and its beautiful. When done the pair should be a solid 9/10.
