Uber Rare Federal Sign And Signal Model CJL PA Speaker Base/Blue/Red Split Dome Beacon Ray Model 17 Combo

You might need a permit for over height if you mounted that on an engine or high cube, :D.

Impeccable restoration as always and certainly a unique collector's piece. However, still trying to wrap my head around a 184 base mated to a BRo_O!

Thanks for sharing.

Perhaps this was cheaper than modifying a 175H skirt to accommodate a speaker(?!). An interesting combination for sure!

Agreed, the CJ184 was the first of it's type. This base seems to be a natural way to use already invented product for other Beacon Rays. It didn't sell as well as they may have hoped, I'm sure.83257132_10157024142246375_2454050506553688064_o.jpg

The idea was that you could convert your Beacon Ray equipped vehicles to a CJ-184 style speaker system without having to buy a complete CJ-184. Signal Stat had a similar version.

Imagine a mechanical siren on the roof! Back in the day, the "police package" on sedans/wagons included roof reinforcement with an extra layer of metal to support a roof mounted siren &/or beacon.

In the early to mid 80's our Chief was issued a Chrysler K-car Station Wagon. With a CJ beacon on the roof. It was the ugliest thing you have even seen. While driving along, you could hear the roof popping up and down constantly.

We all said that the reason the Chief didn't run code was because if he turned on his light, the light would remain still while his car spun around underneath it...........
