Unidentified rotator from Code 3 360

I came across a rotator in a lightbar I took in that I have never seen before. It is a standard Code 3 rotator but instead of the standard plastic or aluminum reflectors I am used to seeing, this one has semi transparent glass front and back lenses that look silver tinted . When light shines through them they show they have a tine (front is Red and back is Blue). So it acts like a beacon light that constantly rotates.

Has anyone seen one of these before and if so what is it called? What would be the benefit for having this over a standard rotator?

Here is a photo of one that I removed to check out on my bench.

Thanks in advanced, I am simply stumped.

Yup, that's most definitely a D-Tech rotator. They were manufactured in both glass and plastic and available in red/blue and amber/blue. The glass are more desirable and hold up better than the plastic ones. I have two red/blue plastic D-Techs in my Code 360. Here's a thread talking about the DT's:

Here's a YT video showing the DT's in all their glory. It's not my video, and you might want to mute the Euro-Porn soundtrack, but you get the idea of the rotators:

They're not the most effective rotators in the world, but they still look cool. I'm still looking for some glass ones to replace the plastic ones I have.

Yes, it is the D-Tech rotator. I find them to be ineffective in comparison to a regular rotator because their increased flash rate and multiple colors tend to blur and make the lightbar look like one big blob. They're nice in a novelty sense, though.

Thanks for all the information. I had the same feeling when I saw them in action. Interesting but not really sure it was better than the plain rotators with colored filters. It surely would get my attention though.

If they came with a high speed motor, would a standard moter make the blur less noticeable or not?

Im pretty sure thats not a Code 3 D-tech rotator... I think its an solar heat ray deflector for an alien space mans helmet for sure.

A standard-speed motor would give the D-Tech rotator a flash rate approximately equal to a normal rotator with a fast motor, but with two colors. Blur would be negligible if the rotator isn't reflecting off any mirrors, but if there's a mirror there it'll get kinda... mushy, you might say. A center section with a clear dome and just a single D-tech rotator, standard-speed motor, no mirrors, would be okay in my book.

one thing about the plastic d-tech rotators that ill never forget; the glittery mess they make easily floats to your face, and before me and my olady split, i was accused of being with another girl! try explaining that! "i came from a light honey"
