Here are 2 N5A's I bought from my brother in law and his brother. I'm unsure if I want to wear them or not, the non-NFPA compliant is working on my brain. I thought about trying to trade them for N6A's. The deluxe version is 09 and has seen some fire and the standard is from 07 and has sat on the shelf.

My Phenix Tl2 with a custom handmade shield form Box Alarm Leather. I just got the helmet within the last 2 months and the shield I got 2 days ago. Most comfortable helmet I have ever worn and by far the lightest leather on the market.

Looks good Mike. I have a Phenix as well and agree with you. The most comfortable helmet I have ever owned. I'm working on ordering a custom shield from DetroitShields.com

Here's another one I just added to my collection. My wife is ready to send me to a shrink...I drove 330 miles round trip to get it (found it on CraigsList for a very good price). I've never seen one of these helmets before, other than on another website. It's a Cairns model 650 Seamless. It's all leather, and it was mfg ~1948. It was from the Half Moon FD (near Albany, NY).

Here's My Carins N5A New Yorker. I have only had it for a year, before i had tactical Tupperware (Bullard UST6). One interesting thing i had to do with my helmet.... well shield is get the removable number plates in the center. The reason being is that im on two different departments. There for i have 51 for Warren and 314 for Cushing. i have separate gear for each dept too.

I am looking for 2 or 3 reflectors for my Carnes traditional helmet.

1 an Eagle Globe and Anchor (usmc) -or- Sergeant chevron with the cross rifles

1 star of life that says EMT, EMT B, or Basic on it.

Both need to be yellow as their main color.

I'm not sure if there is any of the ega one. So i may need to get one made? Just a screen print on the chevron.

Do you want them in tetrahedrons? Or as their own decals? If the latter, you may want to try here:

Picked up a less than two years old Bullard UST6 that never saw interior fire today for a STEAL. The chinstrap is missing, the finial is missing a screw, and the tets could probably use being replaced, but other than that, it's in GREAT condition.

This is my first "superfluous" helmet outside of what the department issued me. I'm just about certain we're required to use the department issued helmets, so I'd be cleaning it up/outfitting it mostly as a display piece for the bookshelf, but keeping it simple and professional so that I can put it into service if I'm ever allowed to.

I'd be interested to see more pics of yellow helmets if anyone has them. I'm trying to decide what I might want to do with this helmet as far as colors for tets or full perimeter trim.

It is indeed a Canadian thing. I am not Canadian, however I believe it adds some character and is different so I've sported it on both my lids.

To each their own lol. Was just curious because I know I haven't ever seen it before.

This is my hand-me-down Carnis N6A that was given to me from my chief. The helmet had been painted yellow and black a couple times over the years and was never repainted the proper way (never stripped of existing paint prior to repainting) so it has a few layers of different colors. After a couple of fires and wear and tear, the paint is starting to chip and the yellow is starting to show. It's even down to the base leather in some spots. All-in-all the helmet is starting to look bad with the cracked paint and whatnot and am looking to redo it.

My question to my fellow eLightbar'ers is how to properly go about repainting a leather.

My chief recommended using sandpaper to remove all the paint from the helmet then paint it. Would it be acceptable to use a sandblaster (possibly with something less abrasive, such as walnut husk)?

Any recommendations for which type of paint(s) to use (painting it black).

What's your opinion on brim bends?

I have to say, there are a lot of sharp helmets on here!

I wouldn't recommend putting any bends in it. What do you gain by doing so? And you risk damaging your helmet, either during the bending process or because bending it weakens it.

Here is my brand new Cairns 880 and my old Paul Conway/Lion Legacy 5. The Conway hasn't seen much fire. I'm gonna go to a live burn next month, so hopefully I'll get the 880 a little salty.

Most bends are usually for looks, but apparently some can serve a practical purpose. I've seen guys put sharp downward bends in the back of the helmet. I'm guessing that helps when looking forward while in the crawling position? It looks like it would just dump water and debris down your back/ neck though.
