I just picked up a whelen RB6T blue beacon 24 volt and it says U.S government on the bottom, first off an I going to federal prison for possessing this and what would this be used on where it's 24 volts? I know the U.S. gov probably has fire apparatus but do fire trucks use 24 volts or the 12 volt lights? I was thinking military police but again it's the 24 volts that's theowing me off.

I would doubt it. Lots of ex-military lights out there

A lot of military vehicles, if not all utilize 24v systems, see link below

See other links below for a lot of 24v related discussions and items that have been sold here on the forums.

Automotive Technology
The technology of military vehicles is very similar to that of civilian vehicles, but may have important differences. Engine, transmission, brakes, electrical parts, etc. are all familiar but, for example, modern military vehicles use a 24 volt electrical system while most non-military systems are 12 volt. Even with the differences, a solid knowledge of automotive systems and parts along with assembly, maintenance, and repair techniques will put you in a much better position to do your own work on your military vehicle.

The Internet has many resources available regarding automotive technology that will indirectly help you with your military vehicle. For example, search for "automotive systems" or something more specific

Most, if not all, military vehicles are 24 VDC. As long as you have a receipt that you bought the light from a reputable person, or can document ownership, you don't have to worry about going to prison. There are lots of military surplus items floating around out there.

Thanks for all the info , I'm not really too concerned about the prison part, more joking about that , got it at a yard sale, I was more curious if anybody out there new specifically what kind of military vehicle this would have been used on, it's got a threaded pole mount base, I know there could have a lot of applications for this, I just think it's cool when you know the history of them
