Your Opinion: Setting up an F-150

It just struck me to mention this here as it is an applicable tool for the topic. If you haven't already checked out the Lemur Light I have been looking at them as a solution to portable lighting on the roadside that also help set a scene perimeter. Think floodlight and LED flare in one package...

Your Opinion: Setting up an F-150

@pdk9 Certainly the easiest is a mini-bar and I have toyed with getting an Acari mount for a top mount searchlight/flood. My only hesitation has been the desire to stay low-profile with this being my personal vehicle as well. I think the happy median somewhere in the middle is where I will land...

Your Opinion: Setting up an F-150

@CustomAJ All excellent point/ideas. I think the back window is my biggest issue for sure. I do also have a power-slide rear-window so I had toyed with the idea of finding a way to mount the bar at the bottom of the rear window instead which I think would give me a better chance of spacing it...

Your Opinion: Setting up an F-150

Sure, it's a little open ended because I was hoping to get some opinions on what setups would be most effective and such but I had grabbed some generic photos of an F150 and this was roughly what I had pictured mentally: This is what I have landed on as of right now but I'm not sure if I want...

Your Opinion: Setting up an F-150

@CustomAJ Thanks for the response, I appreciate the insight. I am definitely edging towards the Fenix camp at the moment unless someone has a horror story that deters me. I have done basic install before and I really just want to get some opinions on if the appropriate setup would be overly...

Your Opinion: Setting up an F-150

I have a 2016 F-150 SuperCrew that I am looking to setup with a Amber/White setup for roadside assistance and that leads me to ask a few questions from the wealth of knowledge and wide variety of experiences that reside here in the forums. While I want to do the project right there are several...

    Dallas-Fort Worth Upfitter

Looking to setup some lighting on my 2016 F-150 and wanted to see if anyone had knowledge of reputable upfitters in the DFW area. Wanting to do a fairly straightforward setup with Ambers for roadside assistance and the like.

    Mounting a Federal Q in a Ford C8000

I will have to get a look at a current one somehow and see how the brake solenoid works on it. I'll post updates here as I go just in case anyone else can someday benefit from it.

    Mounting a Federal Q in a Ford C8000

I was doing some digging and found this article: https://elightbars.org/forums/threads/federal-signal-q2b-into-a-bumper-install.45722/ Looks like the guy to ask is @Torpedo but he hasn't been active since '16

    Mounting a Federal Q in a Ford C8000

Okay, I'll have to just bite the bullet and get the bracket. In my understanding the brake is in the pedestal so the bolts and mounting for the Q-MT will use the mounting points for the brake/pedestal

    Mounting a Federal Q in a Ford C8000

Excellent, I saw this when I was looking at wiring diagrams but somehow blanked on it now that I have gotten around to installing. Do you know how the brake solenoid interfaces with the bracket? I haven't been able to find a picture or diagram showing the brake installed, only the Q itself.

    Mounting a Federal Q in a Ford C8000

The Q currently has a pedestal I believe just from looking at it, however the siren itself was installed this way prior so I could be wrong about that. I have a post about getting it working where you can see the setup here...

    Part# For AeroDynic Brackets

Thanks for taking a look. The truck is an '85 and the lights are original as far as I know so it may be that the design was discontinued before '94 I suppose. I appreciate you taking the time.

    Part# For AeroDynic Brackets

I am trying to locate 2 sets of mounting feet to install the pair of AeroDynic mini's that originally set atop the engine I am currently restoring. I was able to get the lights with the truck but they have been stored apart for many years and the brackets are MIA. I wanted to see if anyone...

    Mounting a Federal Q in a Ford C8000

I am wondering if anyone happens to have any knowledge or experience on mounting a Federal Q into the grille of a Ford C8000. My engine (a 1985) originally came with a grille mounted CP100 which I have removed in hopes of retrofitting the mounting hole to accept the Q instead. The Q I purchased...

Long time listener, first time caller

Had an account here for several years but just had a good reason to become active on the forums. Recently purchased a Ford C8000 Pierce Pumper from a local county airport. The truck was in service until 2001-ish and has under 10k miles when it was purchased. It has a set of Federal AeroDynic...

Help Wiring my First Federal Q

Okay, excellent. I suspected this was the case but I currently have continuity between the base and that bolt so is that implying I have a ground short somewhere? I may just be misunderstanding.

    Cleaning AeroDynic Lenses

I recently purchased a fire truck that came with 2 AeroDynic mini bars that were the original roof mount warning system. The lights were removed and stored in less than optimal condition when the truck came out of service around 2000. I have the lights working now and want to clean the lenses...

Help Wiring my First Federal Q

I recently purchased a Federal Q to place on the Ford C8000 Pumper that I am in the process of restoring. The unit arrived in apparent good working order with the bearing looking good and free spinning well. I was able to easily wire and trigger the brake solenoid, however I cannot find any...
