Movies & Television: Police, Fire & EMS Vehicles

Nothing But Trouble 1991

Vintage and modern (then) lightbars to enjoy in scenes. A carload of NY yuppies detour in a small broken down part of PA where the local version of justice has no tolerance and a bone stripper. An obscure comedy with many big names, some in dual roles.

Found a little YouTube video "Prompt Critical" loosely based on the SL1 accident in Idaho. Beginning has a nice nose shot of an old American Lafrance pumper, nicely sorted out with Beacon Ray, Sterling siren and Mars light. They never turn them on, though.

Why 'waste' the lights when there's no one to appreciate them? But then, wouldn't that apply to the siren as well?

I just noticed this at the end of the music video. Cant tell what kind though. There isn't much of a view and the blue side seems to be partially disabled or not working.

Federal Signal Model 12 EVF....which are rare and kinda hard to find in tip-top shape.

Probably has 24v sealed beams on the blue side except for one of them....but it's a music video production...they don't know much about fixing that stuff, nor care to.

Odd being in a video like that o_O. And yes, had the damn thing muted...'cause blah.

Breakdown Lane (2017)
Low budget zombie movie following a girl that has to learn to survive. This is a good attempt at making a movie but suffers from things like plenty of traffic driving in the background if you pay attention, unconvincing emotions from everyone, and a bunch of other things that make this a instant modern low budget B-movie. Personally I got bored after the pull over scene in the beginning and just skipped through looking to take screenshots of the bars. Heck, a large Dodge pickup pulls her over in the rear-view but a low budget CVPI rolls up. Only plus is seeing a Jetsonic on a newer Jeep and another vintage bar on a CVPI. Did not get to see more than the back of the ambulance though. At this rate it probably had a Twinsonic on it.

Here is 1hr 13min you wont get back.

Smith and Wesson from the ending of Dumb and Dumber

Use what you can for mounting feet I guess, and not hide the lightbar cable any better so it doesn't show up in the shot as much. Ahh, Hollyweird, you never fail with your crazy installs.

WWOOOOOOWWWW!!!
240-Robert. I haven't heard mention of that T.V. show in a looong time. That bring's back memories.

There were only 16 episodes. I don't even know if it exists on DVD. Damn sure isn't out there with any on-demand, streaming services. But there are some low resolution bits and pieces on YouTube. That Bronco was the coolest part of the show. Joanna Cassidy was the hottest thing on that show.

Alright guys, your going to love this one. This movie is the 1958 "The Brain Eaters" a really bad B drive in movie. But your going to enjoy about 2 min 20 seconds of it. Go to 20:05 and watch until 22.25. It will not disappoint.

Good ol' Mars Light action! And that Ford is awesome too!

I watched a movie the other day called Heist. There is a chase scene in the beginning of the movie where the female cops car changes lightbars 6 times in 3 minutes. It went from an edge, to a jet, to an excaliber, back to an edge, excaliber, jet and ended as an edge...

I'm becoming more interested and amused by cartoon and digitally animated emergency vehicles and lights. This is from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)

Never heard of Heist but i see an example of the light bars on this scene I found.
We go from a C3 Excalibur bar to a Tomar bar in seconds. Must be one of those magic cop cars, haha!

That was very bad editing....it's dripping with cheese o_O

Well any old cop car can have 1 lightbar. Cool cop cars have at least 3 options while driving. Its a new feature that I think we can all agree on has been overlooked by the industry. Transitional bars! They adapt like LEDs do with brightness. These just change entirely like a transformer. Very fancy. Clearly the wave of the future. Thank you Hollywood. Just think how confused the bad guy will be when they notice.

JDI bars were something like that. They looked great in the advertisement, but when you got them...
