The FB-1 sounds like it's motor and drive mechanism need some attention.

The ones that have been used a lot, are quieter and faster. The NOS one is slower and noisy. If I remember correctly, with use they speed up, and quiet down a bit.

Interesting. Mine are well used, reasonably quiet for metal worm and cog gear drives, and they rotate at about 90 to 100 flashes per minute.

A good teardown to remove the old hardened grease, a drop of light oil on each motor bearing and felt pad, and make sure the worm and brass gears are not binding at all, will probably make a huge difference.

I bought this fb2 in August 2022 in Denver (thanks mike). I completely disassembled, cleaned, adjusted the electric motor and I changed the Safco cord only. It works perfectly now.
The vintage American police light is the best of the world
