NYPD Interceptor/Fusion NEW ESCAPE

The Impalas are cheaper, and may not be so much that they "stick" with them but have a set purchase contract with an ongoing delivery schedule.

IIRC, the NYPD is the single biggest purchaser of the Impalas, it's possible GM/Chevy extended their production life to fulfill an ongoing purchase contract, as it is they reduced the 2014 exterior color choices to just 4 colors.

Just wondering why did they stick to the 2013 Impala and not order the Caprice. I hope they get rid of the Cargo Pants. Its PD not EMS.

They got a better deal w/ ford i believe, and the caprice was too expensive for the PD they didnt need the power/engine....

as for Cargo pants, it is a pain in the ass not havnig them...I keep something in almost every pocket, its not about PD trying to be EMS, its about being able to have tools at your disposal, needed or not

Where am I going to store my gloves, candies, gum, phone charger, misc. papers , memo book, extra pens and other unmentionables when these cargo pants are outlawed??? Ughhhh. Ill be in a market for a buff bag very soon.

That would be nice however highway uses slim lighters (from Whelen) they are only used because one day somebody put one in an rmp. And the highway CO loved it. Ever since then they now all have them. They are specially wired and done to sync with each other. Since the dept has such a huge contract with FS they prob get the vipers 10x cheaper and with less wiring work

They should just start putting the spectralux vipers in the rmps now they look like they will not have the problem of te regular vipers since the led board is facing straight out

The Impala is the cheapest, and most cost effective PPV on the market.

The Tahoe is the most durable, has the highest resale, and has the most overall value of any PPV on the market.

The Charger has been the most sold PPV since 2007.

It is true that the NYPD has been the largest volume purchaser of both Lumina and Impala 9C1's since 1996. So much that when Chevrolet was designing the 2000 in Impala in 1998, NYPD was heavily consulted from the start, as the 2000 and 2006 Impala's were designed for LE use before retail.

Michigan SP and LASO have long been the PPV industry benchmark setters, with all PPV manufactures sending pre production vehicles for testing and tweaking. Chevrolet R&D went to NYPD early into design and planning for the Impala's. Hate on the Impala all you want, it was always faster than the CVPI, and was a very decently set up vehicle. Yes it has it's quirks and some issues, but then so does the CVPI, Charger, and every vehicle. I think the last PPV that made the majority of street cops happy was the 1994/96 Caprice LT1 9C1.

I agree that Hybrids have little to no use in LE patrol, or traffic. They should be used for admin, detective, and plain clothes assignments.

A hybrid has no purpose in any kind of public safety for any reason. We can agree to disagree but I would never have them in my fleet. Vehicles used for public safety should be PPV or SSV if at all possible. Just my $0.02

...Even one that's powerful and reliable enough for police work? The main reason hybrids can't be used for police work is that currently they're all built for fuel economy and comfort. There's no reason that a hybrid that's a full-size vehicle built like a rock that puts out 300HP wouldn't be good for police use... there just aren't any vehicles like that. And if there was one it'd be too expensive.

And I am sure would be cost prohibitive to maintain.

Well the NYPD has finally made a smart choice when it comes to vehicles, except form what i am told only 8-12 of these for the entire City, they will serve for Highway patrol Truck Safety, units.

They have also Added all HIGHWAY PATROL INTERCEPTORS with new Side warning using Sound off Interrsectors on the kick panel, or whatever you call it. We have a Black unmarked one with the intersectors. Looks sleek

Enjoy..

Dual spotlights? Is this the start of something new or just for the first batch of these?

That is just beautiful. However, I still wish they'd go with a different PB on their vehicles & decide on a solution for true intersection warning on their sedan RMPs (similar to how their E-series & Chevy vans have had a FedSig lighthead on the sides of the headlight housings for the past few years)

Saw this today while working this morning. Very Nice, I like how they went with Rear Exterior Mounted Ions, and They mounted what appears to be Vertexes on the Top portion of the Trunk Hatch. That little wing part that sticks out.. Very Nice Loooking Car

I heard Chevrolet was keeping the 2013 Impalas in production for fleet purposes, only.

Just the 06-13 Body style for at least one more year to be known as the Impala Limited. Then it will die off and all you will have is the retail Impala (2014 body style) but no more 9C1/9C3 Impala.

Wow, an '08 Crown Vic. That thing has to be beat to hell, lol.

Although not a precinct or highway car, the Movie TV Unit has a 2003 Crown Vic still in service. Doesn't look that bad either.

The Movie/TV Unit Crown Vic is understandable, but a precinct car... Then again that is my opinion, I really have no idea how torn or beaten that car really is or isn't, all I can say is that the body at least looks good, lol.

Aaaargh !!

Just beautiful !! Ideal for DTs !!

Think I'll wait for the Mondeo to be released in FEB before ordering my next company car.... :)

The Ford Mondeo Mk V wagon looks pretty cool, too bad they do come to the usa.

Hybrids and little tiny cars don't belong on patrol. Give them to admin, dicks, and anybody else who spends a good percentage of their day at a desk or on a telephone. The car is your office for 8-12 hours a day. Give people room for comfort and consider that beat cops carry more equipment now than they did 30 years ago.

Salt Lake PD decided to try a handfull of Crapota Camary hybrids in the patrol fleet a few years back. They still have them, but rumor has it they had a lot of issues with them and they were taken off patrol duty and re-assigned to accident investigation and a few admins. They are still marked.

I haven't seen any of the new generation Camary models int he SLCPD fleet so I think they learned their lesson there. They do run a lot of the 9C1 Impalas.

There's no hybrid version of the new Escape, that's what the C-MAX is for.

Some more testing of the Federal signal Valor

Different...

Not really a fan of the message board on the back of the valor, its a waste since you cant even read what it says unless youre a couple feet away from it
