Maybe for me a California Highway Patrol FS Vision... NOS... I tried to build one once but gave up after not being able to find all the filter combos I'd need.

i wish i could find one as well! here is a pic of mine:

Mine isn't exactly vintage, its been in service maybe 10 years or so, but i cannot for the life of me find a whelen tam85 (Tir6 traffic advisor, in amber with R/B ends)

For me the holly grail is an aerodynic 24SEAH.

I already have one though fitted with a visibeam 1 search light (along with a 24SEH fitted with nothing) but I need another one to have the 3 versions of aerodynic used in the French Police in the 80'.

Do you have pictures of the '80s French version: mostly blue, I would suspect?

Could be, it's in France. This public computer I use won't pick up the photobucket photo you sent. But I'd bet that little critter gets up and scoots: Renault or not! :p

My all time Holy Grail!!! :D : :hail: :D :hail: :D :hail: :D :hail: :D :hail:

Haha, remember to hook up a microphone to an old Whelen power supply so you get the double "Woop-woop" through the siren speaker to be REALLY authentic, Wigwam:dielaugh:!

I'm not sure everyone knows what saying "that's my holy grail" means.....

Holy Grail - uniquely prized object of search or quest; high ideal

According to Arthurian legend, the Holy Grail was Christ's cup (or plate) at the Last Supper. It was then used by Joseph of Arimathea to catch some of Christ's blood at the Crucifixion and was brought by Joseph to North Wales, where it disappeared. Manifesting itself from time to time to a chosen few, the Grail became the object of sacred quest by the Knights of the Round Table, the three purest of whom finally received it from Christ's hands at the castle of Corbenic, from where they carried it to Sarras. Grail, an old word for bowl, cup or platter, now exists only in this context.

... there has got to be some level of searching involved, ie inherent difficulty. What I'm saying is you shouldn't have to come up with a new holy grail item every week. It's great that you are looking for a streethawk, but that's not a holy grail item. The better chocolate milk that's at the further away of two stores is not a holy grail item.... you are looking for the cup that caught the blood of Jesus, not the mt. dew can that caught the dip spit of your friend Carl.

This is meant as a semi-humorous rant... not an attack or admin action

I agree with you totally on this one, John. While not all our members are necessarily Catholic, it is well known that Catholics, Anglicans and the Orthodox use a chalice that has to be made from gold when concecrating the Precious Blood of Jesus at the Eucharist.

My friend, Barry McRoy, who is the fire chief in Walterboro, SC, has one of the new Whelen sirens with the scanlock feature. I happened to be talking to him on his cell phone last night when he had to respond to a structure fire. That new Whelen has the "Powercall" sound and it is awesome!

Yep, the car is a RENAULT 18 produced between 1979 and somewhere in the middle of the 80's. It could have been exported to US, but I'm not sure...

Sireno 40010 or Mars Commander for me.

The big Sireno 40010 ( also known as an ED10) was one of the best sirens built. It was just slightly larger than a Q and would outcoast anything I've ever seen. Boardmember Henry455 has one and it's nice. I didn't care for the 10" Mars Commander, as it was not a coaster siren. I recenlty acquired a Mars 8" Commander which is nice, but also a non-coaster. I've always figured that if you have to run "hot", you need a good coaster siren. I saw a police car one time when I was a kid that was on an emergency run, and that car had a Federal 28 underhood (I'd seen that car one time with its hood up, so that's how I knew that). He was approaching a busy intersection when a car pulled out in front of him. He had to have taken his foot off the button momentarilly as he was hitting the brakes and maneuvering around the other car, because the siren rolled down suddenly as he found himself in the intersection. That was very dangerous!

My holy grail would be a CHP Vision. I'd dish out a pretty penny on a old beat up bar. Have CHP Vision model labels, might just build a bar around them.

Holy grails currently in the collection are:

FS CHP Decklights for 90's-2002 CHP vehicles. Near perfect, also have the interface box

My CHP decklights and CHP red spotlight bulb(not CHP specific, it's just authentic) on my dads "Holy Grail" CHP Mustang (not just his holy grail, but most peoples). Have multiple other sets of decklights and original mirror lights(for the 90's cars).

I started this thread, and fortunately, I am going to pick up another item soon. My city PD used a transmission hump mount for their old equipment for years. I am pretty sure the city garage made them. They scrapped them in the mid to late 90's. A friend has one, and I will be getting it soon. It is probably the last one in existence.

After I pick it up and mount the original equipment in it (that luckily I have, too) I will post pics. It was a pretty cool setup.

BTW, still looking for a Sireno Projector siren.

Except for the flash shield on the Signal Master, what makes this configuration different from non-CHP pieces?

CHP inventory labels, mounting brackets, probably the interface box as well.

Nothing. The recessed SIGM2 brackets and sun visor are the only CHP spec. items, plus they are wired to use the GE/Ranger radio system. The rest is the same as any other.

Now please excuse my thread hijacking. Continue on!

My holy grail search is narrowed down to one piece of equipment. A Smith & Wesson Magnum III siren - the first version with the large pushbuttons, not the IIIa or IIIb. The Magnum III is a compact siren with no PA function.

If I had to narrow it down to just one thing, it would have to be a FS Vision, fully functioning with controller and all applicable cables. Seems I just can't find one or when I can I'm short on cash.

And hilarious it still remains, even near a year later!

I just received a magnum siren thinking it was like the one you are talking about , mine is smaller than the ones that I remember the WVSP having in their Vehicles back in the late 70's or early 80's . Do you have a pic or know of a video so I can compare them ? Thanks

Kevin O'Connell, owner of B&M Sirens has one of those V-Platters with the Federal C5G siren in the middle. Nice...very nice!

Here's a pic I found, w/o the lollipop.

Now, that's a nice V-Platter, Dan. Looks like the lights and the Super Chief were new at the time. I know that B&M built some of the V-Platters, so with the Super Chief attached, I'd assume that's one of them.

The sirens in the photos you posted are Federal C5G models, not 66Gs.

Most definitely my 8 rotator Aerodynic. You can't imagine how hard it is to get one of these things down here to Europe...(and pricey too). Now I'm getting ready for R/B Twinsonic... :p

By far, there were more C5s on the V-Platters, but there were some 66Gs, and a number of B&Ms, like the nice Super Chief in Dan's post above.
