2011 Caprice PPV

It will be interesting to see how easy those touch screens are to operate when driving down the road.

I've found that physical buttons are much easier to activate (or not accidentally activate) compared to touch screens when bouncing around inside the cabin.

When we re-outfitted our cars with touchscreens it was nice for about two seconds. Then suddenly, the MDT's started to have their touchscreen functions disabled....

Dodge : Charger | eBay

2011 Charger Police on eBay. The dealer notes in this post it is an over-order vehicle and at the end of this month he will also have a 2012 Caprice 9C3. So I guess it WILL be possible to get my hands on one after all.

I know someone who can get you a 9C3 Caprice to your specs.

Split flash patterns.... FAIL!!!!

The 9C1's are on the ground and shold be on the street working any day now. K9Vic has some pictures, and was supposed to post them. I took a few of a lonley one at another dealership. They are really alot better looking in person.

I think they were all 9C3 Detective Caprice cars as they had the alloy wheels, but they had about 15 cars. They also had about 20+ PPV Tahoe ready and a few crew cab pickups that they build up for police use. Wish I could buy one of those 9C3 cars, but I guess I will have to wait until one is traded in or a demo unit.

This is the first 9C3 I saw on May 20th at their instal shop and I believe it is a demo unit as they said they have one.

Impala that I mistook for a Caprice at first being up all night from the day before and not paying attention to details taken at about 11am.

Will do. They also had a new CVPI waiting for equipment. Unusual, because the sheriff is a big Chevy fan and hasn't bought Fords for a long time, except for an Explorer. Must have needed another black car ASAP and couldn't wait. They run a bunch of newer Impalas and Tahoes. The Caprices in the pics are both supervisor units. The other cars have Whelen Liberties, so we will see.

I do NOT want. Fugly!

I wonder if he added the spotlight. I want to see window stickers.

Every single Holden Caprice 9C3 I have seen in person has had a spotlight and that is about 20+. Spotlights can be ordered on either the 9C1 or 9C3 and they are NOT standard, they are an option. The one listed at eBay is a 9C3 and the white one in the last picture is a 9C1 looking at he wheels. You do not need to see the window sticker to know the options, it will be in the glove box on the build sticker. But if you want to see a window sticker I posted one from one of the first 9C3 that hit the states back in May.

$460 for a spotlight install?!?

Also, yes, I want to know whats in it so I want to look at the window sticker. Yes, I know they are only available to police. There was a dealer publically selling 9C3's (thanks to a loophole) without spotlights until GM found out and slammed the brakes on any more public sales of 9C1/9C3 Caprices.

Yeah, $460 for a factory installed spotlight sounds right. I consulted with a local Chevrolet dealer and gave a quote of $400.00 for a unity installed and wired. Its not cheap, and you only get one shot at the install. Factory (Kerr) upfitting is usually more expenive becuse the cars generally get shipped to Kerr after the plant. There is a dealer in Florida selling 4000 mile caprice's from departments that 'leased' them. You can order whatever color you want, when the car gets delivered, it is 'leased' to a department for a few months and usually a few thousand miles, with no hard installs or use. It's an expensive what to get what you want. The dealer has been doing it for decades.

I'm currently pricing a new tahoe. Single spotlight is a $391 option.

If this is a POV as I am guessing and you really have no need for a spotlight I would suggest not to order it with one. They get in the way of your view and also when you sell your Tahoe it is worth more without it. I took mine off on my 09 Tahoe because it blocks my view and catches the cloths hanging down in the auto car wash.

Yes... for me it is a "-391" option from their standard pricing.

I rarely to never use it on my patrol car... so why pay for one on the new one?

Much rather have the dual battery and remote start.

I'm kinda bummed about the lack of a roof rack option, though. Guess I'll have to find one off of a wreck or aftermarket.

NDHP had one marked up and upfitted and parked at their district office the other day when I was leaving the jail. I took some cell pics, but it was dark and they're crappy and not able to upload them at this point in time., will do later.

I will say, not a big fan of the console area. The elbow rest seemed to put your arm at about ear level... too high for my tastes.

Please God tell me.......is the Caprice PPV available with a manual transmission and short-throw shifter?

My guess is no.

This is not Europe or Australia, cops cannot drive manual and work the computer at the same time. It will never happen in the America on any police car, there is too much stuff in American cop cars that are not used over seas. If you want a Caprice with a manual, but a used Pontiac G8.

A floor-shifter is just as impractical too

G8's don't come with a Corvette engine. I hope that they realize the huge sport market that will exist with this car and offer a 6-speed manual. Everything else is already built for speed.
