The Fire Helmet Thread

So after trying out the phenix and not liking it. I sold it (shipping tomorrow) to finance my brand new New Yorker and shield. Here they are.

Can't wait to get it in service for the first time. I've got red tets coming from 3decals.com to finish the look.

Its a paul conway shield. I cant see on the website where it gives you the option for the hook and ladder. I guess you have to call them and special order it.

I got the red and white tets in today and put them on. I think it completes the truckie look.

I just got this one from ebBay...it is awesome but I like my Ben 2 better..well not really, but it is a better choice for me right now..LOL


I put the orange and silver tets on and a brand new finial.


It is on ebay as we speak.

And for the record - I effing HATE the larger, flat topped new finials!


I put a classic finial from an 80's leather and it made a world of difference..had I kept this lid, it would have stayed on.

Love it when bourkes melt off, lol. That aint a real leather, is it? doesnt look like one from what i can tell.
 
I'm rocking a personal normal Carnies Classic 1000 with the ESS goggles with all the extra's at the time. Most comfortable helmet I have worn. I converted most of the department to the 1010's configured the same as mine and everyone seems to love them (especially compared to the cheap Morning Pride metro style they bought years back).


Though, I am really considering a Phenix helmet after doing some time in California. Once you get past the non-traditional look, they really are nice.
 
The new Cap. It has those goofy goggles that slide in and out of the helmet.. Kinda useless.. I plan on changing that REAL quick!

my phenix bought from a member of the board... i customized it, but i got more stickers coming in to pimp it out with...


Rockin the DC style door chock with that undercover black look. love it.


the comfort of this helmet is unbelieveable. fits my head very well, and was wierd to go back to my issued 660C. its lighter than i expected as well. very comfy

I liked my all red shield so much, I decided I didnt want to use it and get it all crispy, so here is my helmet with my new shield.


The fire store did a great job, and I got it within a week of ordering it....Cant beat that for turnaround on a custom shield.

Do you use the hot water method for removing the bends from your leather helmets? ~Kirk

Yes...I hold it over boiling water. That helmet went onto eBay today...love it, but prefer a N5a over the heavier N6a...

I am now looking for a N5a in LARGE....


Hoefully my Ben 2 Plus sells on ebay....not much demand for that lid..gonna take a hit on that one for sure..
