HFD,

I use mine, we cover the interstate so we get a lot of tractor trailers with leaks, it is not to look cool.

Yessir you cleared that up in chat. Seems like a nice trick for what you have to deal with.

When I retired, I had my old Cairns 5A New Yorker of 1970's vintage refurbished. It served me well for many years and now it hangs in my office/computer room! It is also used for display when we show our 1954 American LaFrance 700 Series Pumper. Get a lot of nice comments on both!

This is my helmet (department issued). Sorry for the low quality! The lights flicker on and off and I can never seem to get the camera to take it at the right time, and no flash on the camera! :( 1323 is void now, I am now 1319!!!! :D

Here is my N6A made in 2007. I use it in my combination dept. It was black then I made rank and had it painted.

I have a natural N6A that is a med. size that doesn't fit so it sits on my shelf.

Hey guys, what do you use to repaint your helmets? A guy on my department used the paint that the fire store sells but now it looks more like a plastic helmet. Maybe its a little too high gloss?

I have always had good luck with Krylon. I sand, use primer, then spray. After it dries, I even bake it in the oven at about 100 degrees for10-15 minutes. I don't know if baking it helps set the paint, but I was told that it does.

My primary helmet is an white Paul Conway American Classic. I also have a black N5A Deluxe that I bought as a "I want it" toy. If anyone is interested my N5A is for sale on my thread.

What primer do you use before repainting?

I have always used white, but a lot of other guys use gray. I guess it depends on what color you are going to spray on, but I have used white for both yellow paint and red paint. I believe I used Krylon brand primer last time, most likely that is what I used the other times also.

If only I had the cash.... I'm looking for a large black N5A but the funds are a little restricted at the moment. I'm trying to see if I can get one for around $300 but I don't think thats going to happen.

my phenix bought from a member of the board... i customized it, but i got more stickers coming in to pimp it out with...

Rockin the DC style door chock with that undercover black look. love it.

the comfort of this helmet is unbelieveable. fits my head very well, and was wierd to go back to my issued 660C. its lighter than i expected as well. very comfy

I've always wondered about the black tets. They look good. I'd get them if my department didn't color code the ones on our helmets.

you should be able to slap em on above or below your issued ones for that extra "pop" when the light hits it. plus theres subdued stickers, that appear black or dark, but light up silver when hit with light

C'mon guys, I can't keep monopolizing this thread lets see those lids lol.

Heres my "new" N5A, before I removed the tets. New ones are on order from the fire store. Hopefully they won't drag ass with shipping. More pictures to come.

My phenix 1500 TL2 leather has finally arrived after a long wait (just an FYI the 2-3 weeks the fire store says is not accurate its taking alot longer at this point. THey told me they are all special orders from phenix and they dont keep them in stock. I guessing Phenix is just doing that much buisness they are behind. I will say In my opinion it is alot lighter then N5A or N6A that i have ever picked up. I can't wait to pop its cherry at its first fire or at least its first call. (fires don't come that often around here.)09262011 022.jpg

I have a black TL2 w/ black tets, and i love it. it fits my head so well. Ive had friends try it on, and they say it sits too low on their heads, but then i have them put a face piece on, and it fits perfectly. Only thing i didnt like was the ear flaps, but hey, cant win on everything.

In-service personal Paul Conway American Classic; ESS-Bourke, received today.

I had graphics and decals all made up, but discovered elegance in it's simplicity.

The only thing I will add is two small stars of life on the more forward side tets this spring, and possibly some small American flag triangles on the top.

Sorry about the duplicate pics; phone went goofy.

This is my issued cairns 1010. Pretty basic, stream light helmet band and light, 2 small chocks, another chock that I have to put back, red tets, patriot EMS and patriot LE decals. The red tets and 3 are our company color and black shield for being an engine company.

Should be getting a leather soon, it's gona be set up the same but with E 3 on center rear sections instead of tets and my last name on bill in rear. Can't decide whether th get a n5a or phenix.

Pics are taken today on way back from a fire we had. Cab if a good ol' 89 Mack.

Nice work truck. Helmet looks good. Wish i got some of mine the other day, after I took the above pics We had 2 more structures on New Years day and the 2nd. My helmet looks great, nice and dirty. Finally breaking in the new shield I got a year ago since we had such a slow year last year.

So I have to retire my helmet... during gear inspection and donning/doffing drills during the shift today found a nice crack in my inner impact shell with a piece actually missing. Looks like I'm getting a Morning Pride Ben 2 (new issue helmets for the FD), but Saving for a leather.

Figured I'd throw mine in here. Brand spanking new department issue Paul Conway American Classic. Old one went the way of the buffalo a few weeks ago.

Hey guys, I have Morning Pride Ben ll and I was curious what you guys use for lights on your helmets? I have the stream light 4AA single led light, but for me it isn't bright enough. I ran a car fire last night and my streamlight along with my survivor series was fine, but I am wanting something a little more focused where I am looking not off to 1 side or straight out. I got to browsing online and found this. I was thinking about ordering the discover series, but wanted to get some opinions first. I found it on google shopping for 102 plus shipping. Here is FoxFurys site of helmet headlamps.
