Official "Whacker" or "Screwed Up Install" Thread

Quote from above wanker's video:

Strobes in my denali and the reason i dont have them anymore i used them alot when i shouldnt have been,, :(
(old video for 2007)

Really? "I used them alot when I shouldn't have." Maybe because you probably got caught with them on once and was given more than just a warning to get rid of them:rolleyes:. What a box of tools...

Saw this in the Menards parking lot a few days ago. I have no idea what the shell is for the lightbar, but it looked like a real lightbar probably existed in there at one point, now it's just the frame/domes/center filled with teardrop rotators. It had some 120v bundled wire powering it that was screwed to the body of the cab. The mount on each corner was 2 metal 'L' brackets screwed together on the long part. Then the bottom L was screwed into the top of the cab, and the top L was screwed into the bottom of the lightbar.

Here are two that just came in today.. The first is a large metropolitan county sheriffs police deparmtent car. It was on the road 3 days. This is the fine quality work that their own shop does. We have the contract to install locking gun racks in the cars. Why they cant do it . I dont know.. The fuses are all crimped with yellow and red butt connectors onto the factory plug. Then looped and stuffed behind the mat. The 1" hole in the firewall is not siliconed even though its has 2 8g and the power wire for the Justice bar running through it.

Next fine piece of workmanship is a DHS ICE 2008 Impala. It came in to the shop because it was broken into and had the slimlighter in the front, rear and SFGH100 control head stolen out of it. They didnt touch the Motorola Astro W3 head... It also had a non working sound off gemini supply.I vacumed out the broken glass, replaced the slimlighters and SFGH head and cable. The supply had totally shut down but was getting power to the turn on wires. A process of elimination of taking all 4 the cables off revealed a bad tube in the passenger side headlight housing, So far a no brainer.. Until I took the headlight out and found they had used about a half a tube of clear silicone to hold the tube in and seal the 2" hole in the outer housing. I scraped as much as I could out and vacumed out the tons of remaining silicone. the tube had totally burnt up the bottom of the base of the push in tube. It was repaired and put back into service. While under hood. I found this Gem. Everyone here knows that Federal makes a vehicle specific speaker for the Impala Right? You just drop it in under the drivers side headlight and mount it. Its a 5 minute job. Well apparently the fine installers who are in the custody of the federal goverment feel that its easier to go though the hassle of making their own bracket to mount the speaker facing up into the hood and wedging it in there so its next to impossible to get out. I thing cutting the hood isulation blanket is a nice touch too.. I wont mention who built this car but those in the know can figure out who it is. U N I Can Only Repair their mistakes.

actually, that was a factory federal signal option, in the bar I have, a factory equiped Portland Police bar, there are upper level rear flashers, upper level takedowns, and dynarays, there are special brackets that move the rotators back so there is enough room for the dyna rays.

these bars were offered like this with a speaker section.

My bar has upper level rear amber flashers, red and blue front and rear lower flashers and 4 rotators .

He lives in eastern NC too? Oh God...why...

I'm nearly at a loss for words... Nearly. That's impressive for me, because I almost always have a smart-assed opinion to give. I know a few people like this guy. Scary to know they're spread so far and wide. lol.

On a side note, I have what appears to be the same dash light from STL (except my pattern button is on the other side) and it actually is a bright little light. I've not had any issues other than a couple of random pattern changes in the 2 years I've been using it. (Yes I know STL is hated on here, I bought them before I found ELB, and they haven't broken yet so they're still there.)

Seen this at Wal-mart today. It looks like it's bolted to to the wood. The roof racks push together to hold down the bar and only one cable strap. ......

When I get home from work I have to search my old phone. There was a Durango that was at the local walmart here in Dutchess County NY. It had a Mini Whelen Edge with red/amber lenses.....

Sorry you fail as this is a repost and disabled embedding because I do not want it embedded.

So what is wrong Retired1 install??????????

Not drilling a hole in the roof so it holds it's resale value by running the lightbar cable down the back so it could be easily removed and keep the value of the value of the truck. I fail to understand what you think is so wrong with the truck when everything is clean.

The truck was used by a Police Officer for road side construction duty and the amber Liberty was changed over from red/blue. These Police Officers will run more lights working these off duty jobs so they cab be seen. This is nothing out of the ordinary for these Police Officers, the lights are these for the safety of the construction workers.

I've seen that truck. It has no front parking lights and a I <3 MATLOCK bumper sticker.

I never said there was anything wrong with the install work itself. That actually looks very well done. I just fail to see why it needs two lightbars, plus other LEDs mounted to the bumper.

Now, I will say I didn't notice that it is a demonstration vehicle before I posted it, which makes it a little better. Me posting it wasn't meant to offend anyone. You just don't see a pickup truck with two lightbars everyday...

Originally passed by this beauty on an adjacent roadway and thought that I saw some after-market "somethings" on the rear deck but I'm still not sure due to direct sunlight. I really don't have a clue and I apologize for not getting photos of the rear of this vehicle as I felt very, very compelled to exit this parking lot shortly after snapping these photos. But hey, it looked like an officially-marked vehicle which is why I stopped to check it out in the first place.

That being said... Have any central Ohio motorists here ever traded traffic-jabs with a maroon / dark red Ford Taurus sporting heavily-tinted windows and a Ford "Police Interceptor" decal affixed to the back of said vehicle?

This is from the latest lame Steven Seagal tv show "True Justice". A visor-mount Whelen Slimlighter angled around 15* down, I think. Holy Flashback Batman on the dash. It serves as the only front lighting for a new GMC Yukon. Doesn't really count as "whacker" but maybe more of "screwed up"?

Might just be angled that way for a camera shot. If the LEDs were facing the correct direction it would be right into the camera and wash out the image. It's not uncommon for tv/film to "alter" lighting systems to still flash like it should but to avoid ruining a camera shot with too much light.

I have up for sale my Custom 2004 4 cyl. Dodge Stratus Se 4 door Silver in color.

Auto has 94,000 miles

I have had this auto on the road for the last 3 years doing Auto Service work helping motorists and have added many features to the auto for that as well as volunteer work I do with various agencies and also put some features for camping / personal use.

This auto has taken about 600+ hours of work to get to the way it is today. I had to strip the interior and rebuild it and do a lot of custom work to it.

Auto runs and drives well.

Known Issues:

1) I just found out through a showing that the passenger side rear window is working very slowly and I would guess may need a new motor in the future.

2) Oxygen sensor sends an error message about every few months and I have to disconnect the battery for about 5 min to reset it. Dodge has replaced it twice and is not sure what is making the error still.

3) various holes were in the roof when I received the car from a firefighter and have been RTV filled but the roof is no longer smooth due to there being about 9 small holes from direct mounting of his lights and 4 from the mounting of my light bar that will need to be filled and or plugged unless your using a Whelen light bar yourself?

4) Rear deck strobes are RED and I will not sell this with the red lenses unless you can prove affiliation for having the red lenses. You can get other colors via Galls / Ebay or your local provider.

NOT INCLUDED WITH SALE BUT IN PHOTOS:

1) all ham radio gear and rear deck antenna but am open to sale of this for extra.

2) Whelen brand light bar on roof.

3) Front Dominator light.

I have described this auto as best I can but if you have any questions, I would be happy to talk with you or if you care to come and take a look at it, I would be happy to set up a time when we can meet and I would be happy to go over all the functions with you.

I am currently in Grand Rapids, Michigan with the auto.
