My work truck project. Video added 11/23

Looks very clean. Not too much, and not too little. Nice work!  ....Yea and sometimes that extra 2" of height means not being able to fit in the garage lol. We have several here in Spokane that are 6'5", especially around the hospital.

    Smart Vector Haul

Got the 2 outboard smart-pods in. I like having the option of just 2 rotators going when you don't need much. Also nice to have takedowns and flashers/oscillators on at the same time (the main failure with the smart vectors). Tried to upload videos, but it said I'm not permitted to upload those...

    Smart Vector Haul

Got some amber lenses from rad123....got them all wet-sanded and polished up. Still not the best at wet-sanding (they don't look like glass) but im learning and trying new methods.  Next up is to dismantle the 3rd smart-vector and rob its smart pods out for bars 1&2.

    Smart Vector Haul

Picked these 3 Smart Vectors up this weekend. All are 100% operational. I was thinking of building 2 custom bars out of the 3.  I'd like to add another pair of smart pods to the Red/Clear bar for 2 colored and 2 clear smart pods. I was also wondering if I could add a single smart pod to the...

    Pick me a Lightbar

Grill, and perimeter lighting for blocking the right of way. Same as any fire apparatus or ambulance.  Ever seen a roll-back towtruck trying to load at a bad angle in an intersection?  Or any towtruck for that matter? If the intersection is still open.. Kinda gotta have it....... As for the...

That's a diesel engine pick-up pulling on that Jeep. No F-150 was ever offered in a diesel, so I'm assuming that's at least an F250/F350. All jeep Cherokees after 1984 (post-wagoneer) are unibody construction. No frame under there boss. I do agree that they where doing a horrible job...

If you do not know the Working Load Limit's of your gear and attatchment points....as well as how to calculate resistance properly, you have no business pulling on anything. Period. No different than installing emergency lighting. If you don't know how to calculate the amps, you have no...

Liability is always a can of worms. 20 years ago...if you stopped to help someone out and something minor went wrong (scratched something or damaged something in the process) most folks wouldn't make any issue out of it and still be thankful that you stopped and tried to help them out of your...

This is what I mean by "Shock-Loading" your unibody. If the strap doesn't break....the attatchment point might. A winch uses "Applied-Loading" to move mass, hence a lot safer and less violent. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8UMsv7cY8c Don't be this guy. Most modern vehicle do not have...

    Towing

If you had a pickup or something similer, I could understand, but a unibody Honda Pilot? Not a good idea friend. I recover vehicles professionally, and can assure you that your vehicle is not suitable for that task. The safest route, if you environment demands it, it to have a Class 4+ hitch...

    If its not LED.....its obsolete????

LOL. Did you read that right off the Whelen site or what lol? Don't take this personally, but anyone who's EVER worked on the highway.....with any lighting ever made.....knows that's just not the case. On paper or in a perfect world...sure, but not in reality. Its the people.....not the lights...

    Recommendation on traffic advisor

The SNM E48 traffic-advisor is great. I had one for about a year. You won't be disappointed with the output....I promise. Its got a hi-lo power setting for a reason, on hi power during the day-time I wanted sunglasses to watch it when I first hooked it up! No joke. Its got lots of arrow...

    If its not LED.....its obsolete????

Naw.....not obsolete. Just fell victim to marketing that's all. They're re-inventing the wheel again lol......and fixing things that are not broken. But that's business and marketing for ya. From a Non-Government funded consumer stand-point, Its a over-engineered, over-priced, and over-hyped...

Visabar clone idea using modern parts - Idea Ihad after seeing this light bar on eBay

Do it! lol Model 100 beacons are great anyhow, can't go wrong with a pair of 'em. (just make sure fleabay sends you a pair of the same speed/fpm rotators lol. The 100 sells in about 5 different rotator speeds)

    Wet-sanding Aero domes

That's a great job there Chief! I got most of all the bad stuff sanded down with the 3M kit. Now I just need to get the finer stuff, but was thinking it would be better to tear the domes down to be a more uniform appearance.

    Wet-sanding Aero domes

I recently picked up another 25RWI Wrecker model (1986). The domes where pretty bad, so I started by wet sanding them with 1000/3000. Didn't smooth the pitting out though, so I got the 3M kit and sanded the S*^# out of them. They look better now, but I'm gonna sand them by hand one more time to...

    My christmas haul....

The lenses should clean up well. I washed the dirt of them and wet sanded the one dome with 1000g, 3000g, then buffed with plastix. Just a quick once-over made 100% improvement! I still need to clean the insides of the lenses a bit, but they should turn out fine.
