State Patrol: What exactly do they do?

Questions like this don't really say great things about your motives for wanting to become a cop.

POV response gets FF a ticket

Cops enforcing the law? Wow. Just wow. It's surprising how many people misunderstand the whole term professional courtesy, thinking it means the same as diplomatic immunity. Having a badge is not a permisson to break traffic laws, just because you can get away with it. You want to show me...

State Patrol: What exactly do they do?

They are not there as military, they are civpol i.e. civilian crisis management.

Whats important in a directional lighthead to you? And whats the brightest?

This is the wrong question to be asking. "What is bright enough for my needs?" is the correct question - keeping in mind there is such a thing as too bright.

    Unmarked Miami Police Car Responding

So the car with all tinted windows is the police one? Might as well just be marked then.

    Fires Were Started

Looks like the original link I posted has decayed. This one should work: Fires Were Started | Doc Alliance: the new deal for feature documentaries My favorite part is at 38:39 - the Ops room is hit by a bomb, knocking everyone over, the lights go out, half the back wall is blown away. A...

    Sebastopol CA, Police

You may be, I'm not. What I'm saying is: don't knock an agency just because of its name.

    Sebastopol CA, Police

South Africa has a police service. They also have one of the highest numbers of officers killed in the line of duty. You may also have heard about the Metropolitan Police Service - you know, of Scotland Yard fame - one of the oldest police forces in the world.

    ELB.... let's rock.

'Police car' does not fit the profile when I think of the word 'interceptor'. Apparently the word has other, stranger definitions.

    Fires Were Started

Fires Were Started, a 1943 documentary film about wartime firefighting. It's a full hour long, and moves along very slowly (probably half would be edited out if it was made today), but a fascinating look into firefighting techniques 70 years ago. Fires Were Started | Doc Alliance: the new deal...

    Military/Prior Military

Did my mandatory time in the infantry (conscription, you know), then I've done two tours in Bosnia (a year each) - one as a liaison officer, one as an MP.

State Patrol: What exactly do they do?

Yes, I agree - since you're already on the job and you know what you are talking about. What I'm trying to say is: what I thought I wanted to do before I joined, and what I realised I actually want to do after I got onto the force are two different things.

State Patrol: What exactly do they do?

The thing to understand is that the USA is a federation. Every state has the power to make its own laws and rules, and run policing the way they want to. So there are 50 different answers to your question. Also - as stated already - you would do well to get a few years of actual law...

Sirennet: 2012 Whelen Chevy Caprice Slicktop Patrol Vehicle

Kidnapped infant found, person detained: mother killed in abduction

Yes, because history has never known a case of a false confession. Ever. Two words: due process.

    Probable cause to stop

Reading all this makes me glad that I don't need probable cause, or reasonable suspicion, or anything else to do a traffic stop. Any vehicle on a public road is legally fair game in that regard. Checkpoints? We can - and do - have them, totally without advance warning. No rules on which vehicles...

    Finnish National Police warning lights

And it's only a 4-cylinder engine, and horror of horrors, the car has a floor shifter! Also there is no center console. And yet, day in and day out, these cars get the job done.

2011 PEUGEOT 508 Covert Operations Package

I'd still be interested in hearing if you can articulate a logical reason for having white to the rear. So far, none has been forthcoming. Whatever Detroit or Michigan does is of no concern - this is Europe. It's not my vehicle, and nowhere near me, so for all I care you can run pink LEDs on...

OK, just one question: why? I completely agree with nerdly_dood on this one - white to the rear is never a good idea.

    Polish NEV Police car

This is true for Finland, Estonia and Spain - flashing blue means "get out of the way!", flashing blue and red means "pull over, we want you!". Don't know about Poland. Also looks like the Polish police copied their livery (car color scheme) directly from Germany.

Well it won't - E65 does not recognize white as a warning color at all.

New Federal Signal/Vama "Traffic Storm" LED lightbar with Message board.

I'm trying to figure out what kind of a situation would a law enforcement vehicle need the text "WELCOME" for? Does it scroll "WELCOME TO JAIL"? :D

IMHO, both the front grille and the rear leds should alternate.
